Unfortunately, we can now add Pretty Smart to that list due to the sitcom’s cancellation on Netflix with only one season to its name. Sitcoms on Netflix have really suffered over the years, and we can now add Pretty Smart to that list. Read on to find out more about Pretty Smart Season 2.
About Pretty Smart Season 2
Jack Dolgen and Doug Mand are responsible for the creation of the Netflix Original comedy-sitcom series Pretty Smart. Pretty Smart has a total of six executive producers, and one of them is Kourtney Kang, who previously served in the same capacity for the show How I Met Your Mother.
Throughout the years, Netflix has had a hard time finding success with its comedies and sitcoms. Although Pretty Smart had the potential to end Netflix’s run of unsuccessful comedies, this did not turn out to be the case.
The story follows Chelsea, an intelligent woman with a degree from Harvard, as she relocates to the West Coast to live with her carefree sister Claire and her three wacky but lovable roommates. The series is centered on Chelsea.
Is Netflix Planning to Air the Second Season of Pretty Smart?
Pretty Smart’s Netflix future was unknown for months. The longer there was no word on the contract’s renewal, the more likely it wasn’t renewed.
On April 27, 2022, news outlets reported that Netflix has canceled the program after one season.
The program cracked Netflix’s top 10 in the U.S. The program spent three days in the top 10, peaking at eighth.
It barely stayed in the top 10 for 11 days (South Africa), showing that the program wasn’t an early cash source for Netflix.
The IMDb MovieMeter measures a show’s popularity based on database use. In the week after publication, popularity soars, then plummets.
Even in terms of critical acclaim, the series did not fare very well. It only has a 5.9 out of 10 rating on IMDb as of the time this article was updated.
Season 2 of Pretty Smart, What Can We Expect?
A tense love triangle is developing inside the home as a result of Claire’s recent breakup with Dave, during which she began kissing her ex-boyfriend Grant, who is currently in a relationship with Claire’s sister Chelsea.
Only a few seconds separated Chelsea from being able to see Claire and Grant locking lips.
The fact that Chelsea wants to have a conversation with Claire about her blossoming romance with Grant and whether or not it is okay in Claire’s eyes for her sister to date an ex-boyfriend makes the situation even more awkward. Chelsea also wants to know whether or not Claire is okay with the fact that Chelsea is dating an ex.
You may therefore anticipate that the focus of season 2 will be on the ongoing love triangle involving Chelsea, Claire, and Grant.
