Even seasoned pros like Howie Mandel can make mistakes, and boy, did he make a major mistake! He may be known for his sharp wit. After committing a somewhat humiliating error on Tuesday’s live performance, the America’s Got Talent judge found himself under intense scrutiny.
After all these years in the spotlight, one would assume Howie would be familiar with his musical artists. Evidently not, though!
Dee Dee Simon electrified the crowd with her rendition of “Lose Control” during the third round of the reality TV show’s Quarterfinals. Howie said that the show “knocked his shoes off,” he was so impressed.
Howie Confused Two Artists
But just when fans thought Howie was going to have the post-performance analysis down pat, he made a mistake and gave credit to the wrong person. Howie incorrectly assigned credit to country music legend Jelly Roll for the successful song’s composition rather than to Teddy Swims, the song’s real artist.
With complete assurance, Howie added, “I gotta tell you something.” “Jelly Roll is probably going to post that.” He was proud of you. It became uniquely yours. Let’s see all of America pucker.
Fans, understandably, jumped all over Howie’s gaffe. Numerous people were pointing out the judge’s mistake on social media. “Can someone please explain to @howiemandel the difference between @JellyRoll615 and @TeddySwims?” comically requested one user on X (previously Twitter). Howie, that was embarrassing.
Someone else added, “Did Howie Mandel mention that Jelly Roll was the artist behind Lose Control? Yeah, that song was performed by Teddy Swims.
The shade continued after that. “Just so you know, Dee Dee sang ‘Lose Control’ by Teddy Swims, not Jelly Roll,” another person said. I just felt that you ought to acknowledge Teddy as well and give credit where credit is due. Hurt!
Howie Had to Make a Public Apology
Howie was quick to admit his mistake after realizing it. He swiftly corrected the record on X by really saying to followers, “I know the difference and I’m embarrassed.” But he didn’t stop there.
The former star of Deal or No Deal went on, “I erred. I even said, “I love Teddy,” and I love them both. I made a mistake. When he was called out by a viewer, Howie just said, “You’re right.”
However, let’s face it—Howie has previously found himself at the center of AGT scandal. When Heidi Klum abruptly leaped into his lap during an act earlier in the season, he was quite uneasy and awkwardly joked about his wife being there.

If that wasn’t enough, Howie also got into a heated argument with Simon Cowell after the infamous judge tried to take advantage of his Golden Buzzer. Drama, drama, and more drama!
Howie made a mistake, but Dee Dee’s performance wasn’t at all interrupted. Dee Dee advanced straight to the finals because it was so amazing that Heidi Klum couldn’t help but press the Golden Buzzer.
It’s important to note that this season’s Golden Buzzer has gained even more significance because it’s now included in the live performances rather than just being used for auditions.
Hence, even though Howie could have stumbled over the ball due to his confusion between Jelly Roll and Teddy Swims, Dee Dee’s skill made sure the evening finished well. But before the next live event, let’s hope Howie brush up on his music trivia—or at the very least, keeps the drama flowing for our amusement! (Source)
