The actor and Hollywood stuntman has acted in some of the most successful blockbuster films of the last decade, including the ‘Jurassic World’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ series.
Tony McFarr, a professional stunt performer best known in Hollywood for playing action star Chris Pratt‘s duplicate in the Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy movies, died this week in Florida. McFarr was 47 years old.
The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office in Orlando told The Hollywood Reporter that McFarr died on Monday and that the cause of death was still unknown as of Friday morning. His death was also announced on the website of Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home on Merritt Island, Florida. However, according to a funeral home employee, his obituary was removed at the request of his family.

Thursday. McFarr’s mother, Donna, reportedly told TMZ that her son’s death at his Orlando home was “unexpected and shocking.” Pratt posted a message on Instagram on Friday, expressing his sadness over the passing of his friend and coworker.
Pratt posted a comment on his Instagram account stating, “Devastated to hear about the loss of my friend and former stunt double. We did several movies together.” We spent endless hours on site, played golf, smoked cigars, and drank whiskey. His toughness will always stay with me,” he stated.
Pratt described in the article how McFarr was hurt filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Even though McFarr had to have several staples put in his skull, he came back to the set the next day. “He was a real cutie. He was consistently a professional and a gentleman. We shall miss him. Pratt concluded, “My prayers are with his family and friends, especially his daughter.

In a 2007 Burn Notice episode, McFarr made his TV and movie debut. He later made a brief comeback to the show in 2010. Throughout his career, he also had appearances in several other popular TV shows, such as “One Tree Hill,” “Army Wives,” “Graceland,” “Cell,” and “MacGyver.”
After working with Pratt on Jurassic World (2015), Passengers the following year, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), McFarr quickly established himself as a stunt artist.
Among the many films McFarr has worked on are some of the biggest blockbusters in Hollywood the last ten years. His stunt work can be seen in several films, such as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Ant-Man and the Wasp, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Captain America: Civil War.
