Loki season 2 starts right where the first season left off with the tales of the God of Mischief. But this time, Loki has a different set of problems to deal with.
He starts to slip through time. This is similar to the glitching we saw in Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse, but there is a small difference that we’ll talk about later in the piece.
When I first saw the trailer for Loki season 2, I was confused about how or why this was happening. If you asked yourself the same thing, let’s try to figure out why Loki is glitching in season 2 of Loki together.
What does “Time Slipping” mean in the TV show Loki?
Since the video for Loki Season 2 came out, everyone has seen Loki glitching in a way that was very similar to how Miles Morales glitched in Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse, but it turns out to be something completely different. In the video, Ke Huy Quan’s character, Ouroboros (OB), tells Mobius that Loki is “Time-Slipping.”
In 1995, a mutant named Rina Patel, who goes by the name Time-Slip and is a member of the X-Force, was the first comic book character to show that she could change the past. If it isn’t clear from her name, her ability is to change the flow of time.
Now, there’s not much chance that what Loki is going through in season 2 has anything to do with Rina Patel’s ability to slip through time, but it’s clear that it was inspired by her skills.
Taking that into account, Time Slipping is pretty much the same as being able to move through time. The only difference is that Rina did it on her own and could control it. Loki, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be able to control the events, and he jumps around in time without any reason.
Why in Season 2 Does Loki Slip Through Time?
Well, at the time this was written, we didn’t know the real answer to this question because Loki season 2 hadn’t come out yet. Also, the people who make the show don’t want us to lose interest in the main fight.
But we do have some ideas about why this is going on. The first is that Loki’s meeting with the One Who Remains and the complete messing up of time in season 1 (read a review) might have caused this to happen to him.
Loki’s return from the void, where he almost died but didn’t, is another reason why I think time is moving faster than it should for him. In the first season of Loki, we learned that the void is where time ends. So, what if Loki’s return from the end of time messed up his place in the universe, making him go back and forth in time?
I think the real reason Loki slips through time in season 2 will be a little more complex than that, but I also think this is the best part of how this show has been marketed. You can’t figure out why anything that happens is happening, which is what makes people want to watch the show.
So we have to wait until October 5 to find out what happened to our favorite God of Mischief.
