Outer Banks Season 2 Recap: What Happened At The End Of Season 2?
On February 23, 2023, Outer Banks will return to Netflix with new episodes. Before you tune in to season 3 of Outer Banks, we’ll relive some of season 2’s most significant events. Here are the most important narrative points to remember before the release of season 3.
Pope’s Discovery of His Relation to Denmark Tanney
In Season 2 of Outer Banks, it is shown that Pope Heyward (Jonathan Daviss) is related to Denmark Tanney through his family tree. The man who used to be a slave lived through the Royal Merchant shipwreck and had the Cross of Santo Domingo at one time.
During the season, Pope finds out that Tanney was able to buy his son’s freedom, but that his wife was killed while trying to escape. Later, Tanney was put to death for trying to find her body. Pope does his best to get the cross back so he can honor Tanney.
The Efforts to Save Sarah’s Life
Rafe (Drew Starkey) shoots his sister Sarah (Madelyn Cline) in the stomach in the second episode of Season 2 of Outer Banks. In the season 2 episode “Prayers,” Sarah dies for a few minutes after Doc Marsh (Marshall Bell) operates on her. Sarah manages to stay alive in the end, but she doesn’t forget how her family has hurt her.
The Revelation of Big John’s Survival
In the season 2 finale of the Netflix show, we find out that Ward Cameron (Charles Esten), who fans thought had killed himself in the episode “My Druthers,” did not. He’s still alive and ready to get the Cross of Santo Domingo back from the Pogues.
In the season 2 finale, it is also shown that Big John, John B.’s dad, is still alive. After thinking he was killed by Ward, we find out that Big John has been living in Barbados.
John B. And Sarah’s Informal Wedding
In the second season, John B. and Sarah Cameron get married informally on a boat as they head back to the Outer Banks. They say their vows and John B. rips a piece of his bandana for Sarah to wear around her neck instead of a ring.
But no one was there to see it. So, they are not married by law.
Carla Limbrey’s Pursuit of the Garment of the Christ
Throughout season 2 of Outer Banks, Elizabeth Mitchell’s character Carla Limbrey searches for the Cross of Santo Domingo. Yet, she has no interest in gold. Instead, she pursues the mythological cloak, the Garment of the Christ, which is supposed to have healing abilities.
She does not obtain the shroud in season 2, but at the end of the season, she joins forces with Big John in the hopes that he can help her locate it. He pledges to assist Limbrey if she assists him in locating John B.
Limbrey’s Meeting With Big John in Bridgeport, Barbados
In “The Coastal Venture,” the last episode of Season 2, the Pogues were stuck. Even though they tried very hard to get the cross, Rafe finally gets it. The Camerons and the cross are sailing away when the Pogues get away in a lifeboat.
At the end of the episode, Limbrey goes to Bridgeport, Barbados, to meet up with Big John. He says to Limbrey about the shroud, “I can help you find it.” “You have to help my son, though.”
