The manga Platinum End concluded this year fans will soon be able to pick up where they left off with a new story arc. Platinum End’s anime, which was announced at the end of last year, will premiere in the fall of 2021 on televisions around the world, bringing the iconic psychological struggle for godhood to life on small screens.
Harboring some similar traits that made its precursor Death Note so popular, Platinum End will run for 24 episodes for its pilot season. Here’s what you should know about the upcoming anime.
Platinum End Synopsis
Platinum End follows the plight of Mirai Takahashi. Mirai Takahashi is an abandoned teenager who contemplates killing himself to put an end to his torment. However, his guardian angel, Nasse, intervenes and prevents him from committing the crime. With the help of Mirai’s supernatural abilities, his abusive aunt and uncle are put on trial for their crimes against the young boy.
Afterward, Nasse reveals to him that God will retire in 99 days and that those chosen to succeed him include Mirai. This is a shocking revelation to Mirai. Mirai’s destiny is sealed now, as he has no choice but to take part in the competition to determine who will become a god. But many of the other contestants are prepared to go to great lengths to rule creation, even if it means killing off any opposition they encounter.
My Anime reads “To earn the position, he must defeat 12 other “God Candidates” within 999 days. Soon, Mirai begins a struggle to survive as a terrifying battle royale erupts between himself and the candidates looking to obtain the most power in the world.”
