Based on the comics created by Jeff Lemire, the fantasy series that is available on Netflix follows Gus, played by Christian Convery, a young kid who was born a hybrid, which is defined as being half-human and half-animal. The emergence of the deadly HFG9 virus, which is often referred to as “The Sick,” happens to coincide with his birth, which in turn causes “The Great Crumble.”

After Gus has spent years living in Yellowstone National Park and has witnessed his father, also known as Pubba, pass away from The Sick, he eventually comes into contact with a traveling human being named Tommy Jepperd, also known as Big Man (Nonso Anozie).

The two develop a bond with one another, and throughout the duration of the series, they are inseparable from one another. In spite of the fact that Jepp comes dangerously close to passing away in the final episode of the first season, he manages to survive and eventually makes full contact with The Sick at the conclusion of the third season. Does Jepp Aka Big Man Die in Sweet Tooth?

Big Man doesn’t die at the end of the Sweet Tooth series. Instead, he goes on to live out the remaining years of his life with his friends and new “family” until it is only the hybrids that are left. But Jepp certainly heads toward “the light” in the Season 3 finale.

Shortly after he and Gus locate the cave where Dr. James Thacker simultaneously unleashed The Sick and triggered the birth of the hybrids during his Arctic voyage in 1911, they all fall ill just as Dr. Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar) predicts. After Zhang pulls out the original ax Thacker attempted to hack into the tree with, she releases The Sick inside the cave. However, Gus isn’t about to let the last people he cares about die.

Based on Thacker’s notebook, Dr. Singh feels Gus must sacrifice himself to cure The Sick, but Gus slashes his hand and places it against the tree’s gash, which leaks Earth’s blood. Gus burns down the tree as everyone around him is dying, curing The Sick immediately.

After leaving the hybrids behind, Gus, Becky, and Wendy return to Yellowstone, but Jepp is absent. Big Man joins Gus with two bottles of maple syrup as the others build their new house, just when viewers thought they lost him (that empty chair nearly made us cry!).

Big Man and the other humans who survived The Sick are presumed to have lived out their lives. Through Gus’s stories, he lives on, with Gus himself reaching an old age by the end of the finale.
