Plot For Harold and the Purple Crayon
The protagonist, Harold, is an inquisitive four-year-old child who, with his magical purple crayon, can construct his own universe simply by sketching it. Harold wishes to go for a walk in the moonlight, but there is no moon, so he draws one.

He has nowhere to travel, so he creates a path. Using his purple crayon, he embarks on numerous adventures, including confronting a dragon, rowing through deep waters, eating a picnic consisting of only nine varieties of pies, and floating in a hot-air balloon that saves him from falling. Harold eventually becomes sleepy and hunts for his bedroom window to go to bed.
He sketches countless windows and an entire city, but none are his. Finally, Harold remembers where his window is located, builds his own room and bed, and falls asleep.
