Founder and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, is worth $182 billion.
A large amount of Jeff Bezos’ income stems from his firm, Amazon, which he established. In just a few short years, Amazon has grown from a little book vendor to one of the world’s largest retailers. It wasn’t just Amazon that made Bezos a billionaire; it wasn’t even the only thing he did. In addition to owning the Washington Post, Blue Origin, and developing a 10,000-year clock, he is also the founder and CEO of Blue Origin.
Is Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos the World’s Richest Person?
Amazon began solely as an online bookstore when it first launched in 1995. In 1994, Bezos launched Amazon.com from the space of his garage in the city of Seattle. Amazon quickly became successful and began making millions of dollars within a few years after it first opened for business. As a result, the company decided to diversify its offerings and began selling additional goods, including CDs, toys, and technological goods.
Amazon began the process of releasing its own goods in 2007, starting with the introduction of the Amazon Kindle and continuing with the release of the Amazon Fire tablet in 2011. Now, in addition to selling books, Amazon offers a wide variety of other products, including clothing, consumer electronics, personal care products, home furnishings, and even food.
Amazon also produces and sells a wide variety of its own goods and services, including Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV, Amazon Alexa, and many others.
After being married for 25 years and sharing a life together, Bezos and MacKenzie filed for divorce in 2019. Following the conclusion of their marriage, MacKenzie was awarded a 4% ownership part in Amazon.
Bezos resigned his position as CEO of the company in July 2021 and took on the role of Executive Chairman of the board instead. According to Forbes, he sold 8.8 billion of his shares of stock in 2021, and he currently controls a stake in the company that is slightly less than 10 percent.
Who is Jeff Bezos’ Younger Brother?
In addition to Amazon, Bezos is the owner of the Washington Post, which he purchased for a total of $250 million in 2013. Additionally, he is the founder of the aerospace business Blue Origin, which was established in the year 2000.
Bezos envisions a future in which “millions of people are living and working in space for the benefit of Earth,” as stated on the website for Blue Origin. He is of the opinion that in order for humans to save the earth, not only do we need to discover new sources of energy and materials, but we also need to relocate industries that put a significant amount of strain on the planet into space.
Blue Origin is trying to construct reusable launch vehicles as a means of accomplishing this goal, which would ultimately result in reduced costs associated with space travel. In July 2021, Bezos was one of the passengers on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket for the company’s maiden voyage into space with paying customers.
The trip lasted for approximately ten minutes. According to Bezos, the company has already made roughly $100 million in revenue from the sale of tickets for flights that will take place in the future. According to MarketWatch, Bezos invests close to one billion dollars annually in order to fund Blue Origin.
Bezos is also known for his work on the 10,000-Year Clock, which is another one of his projects.
According to the website for the 1,000-Year Clock, Bezos is currently in the process of constructing a clock in Texas that will cost a total of 42 million dollars and will serve as “a particular clock designed to be a symbol, an icon for long-term thinking.” The cuckoo will call on the millennium, the clock will tick once a year, and the century hand will move once every 100 years.
