Tanjiro aims for Hantengu’s neck, but the little demon puts up a good fight until Nezuko’s blood-granted powers run out. Meanwhile, he senses a very menacing presence behind him, which he is certain is not any of the demons he has just vanquished.

Anger sucked in the other three demons inside of him, creating a new Hantengu clone who personifies Hatred. This one is particularly troublesome because it is a composite of four of Hantengu’s clones. He’s not just ridiculously powerful; just a glance from the demon is enough to stun Tanjiro and Genya, who can’t believe their luck at being so outclassed by the demon.

Demon employs wooden snakes and confines Hantengu to a wooden case, ranting about how cruel and preying on the helpless Tanjiro and his kind are. Tanjiro fed up with the demon’s hypocrisy, breaks the silence and threatens to cut off the demon’s head, calling him cruel and evil.

Meanwhile, Muichiro is slowly drowning in Gyokko’s water vase because he is too distracted by his own thoughts to pay attention. Gyokko decides to peek inside the forge and observes Haganezuka intently forging a sword.

When Gyokko’s words fail to dissuade Haganezuka from his work, he resorts to physical force, striking at the wordsmith. Gyokko is upset to see another artist putting this much effort into his skill, and he feels awful that he has never been able to achieve something like this himself. Muichiro uses up his last remaining attack trying to break free of his captivity and gives up, still hoping that more Hashiras will soon show up to aid. Tanjiro, however, suddenly materializes in front of him and offers words of encouragement that, according to him, Tanjiro never ever spoke.
