It seems Reba McEntire is genuinely preparing to leave The Voice, despite months of conflicting claims to the contrary.
Since joining the panel of the reality TV competition in 2023, Reba has been a beloved judge by the public. However, an NBC article from June 2023 claims that Reba’s connection to the program dates back further:
“Now, [Reba McEntire] is going to be a full-time member of the family as a coach for The Voice Season 24! The 24th season of the competition will include McEntire as a Coach alongside Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Niall Horan, according to news released in May 2023.”
Reba thanked The Voice for having her on the judging panel and said:
I’m excited to be here with all of you since you’ve been so kind to me. I sincerely appreciate your kindness and hospitality before. And I’m really excited to be able to join and build my team.”
Due in large part to Reba’s constant denials that she was leaving The Voice for the majority of 2024, McEntire’s departure has left many puzzled.
This is what is known about Reba’s departure from The Voice.
Reba Denied Numerous Times That She Was Leaving the Voice
The Voice and Reba made headlines back in February when there were lingering whispers that the country music icon was leaving the program.
At the time, McEntire requested followers on social media to “report” posts saying otherwise as fakes, in addition to refuting specific rumors that she was leaving The Voice.
Reba refuted the reports on Twitter on February 25th, saying as follows:
“I’m quitting The Voice, so please don’t click on any articles that mention that. This is untrue.
“These are phony websites that use headlines to get visitors, claiming to run a weight loss gummy product company. This is untrue. I don’t market or sell any kind of gummy product.”
She posted a very similar picture to Instagram, but with two additions: a screenshot of the offending content and a request that the piece be reported.
Reba’s Silent Leave From The Voice and Her Upcoming Plans
It was difficult to confirm Reba McEntire’s departure from The Voice due to a lot of contradicting information, as news concerning her future on the show seemed to come from two successive NBC press releases about next seasons.

Reba’s reappearance as a judge on The Voice was confirmed when NBC revealed the season 26 lineup on May 13.
“During Season 26 of The Voice, Reba McEntire, the Queen of Country, will make a triumphant comeback to the Coaching Chair for the third time. In Season 25, McEntire substituted chicken tenders for the freshly cooked tater tots she had brought in for her Team during her first season.
“Next season [26], she might even have a personal chef at her side, popping out funnel cakes or something.”
Next, “The Voice Season 27 Coaches Have Been Revealed: See the Lineup!” was released by NBC on June 5. Interestingly, Reba’s departure was not made clear.
Instead, Reba was not mentioned among the judges of The Voice season 27, according to confirmation from NBC:
“The Coaches roster for Season 27 has been made public. When John Legend, Michael Buble, Kelsea Ballerini, and Adam Levine take their places in the Coach’s Chairs for The Voice’s 27th season, it will feature a mix of returning favorites and up-and-comers.”
Separately, Variety revealed on May 7th that NBC had ordered a full season of Happy’s Place, a new sitcom starring Reba:
“Happy’s Place, the pilot starring Reba McEntire that the network bought in January, has been granted a series order by NBC… The multi-cam comedy will make its broadcast season premiere in 2024–2024.
“‘Happy’s Place’ follows Bobbie (Reba McEntire), who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister (Belissa Escobedo) she never knew she had.”
McEntire shared a picture of Happy’s Place on Instagram on June 19th:
NBC’s Happy’s Place was given a full season order at the same time that Reba McEntire announced she was leaving The Voice for season 27. However, Reba’s new job on the same network does not exclude her making guest appearances or continuing to be involved with The Voice in the future.
