What is the storyline of ‘Dandelion’?

The American drama film Dandelion, which will be released in 2024, was written and directed by Nicole Riegel. KiKi Layne, Thomas Doherty, Melanie Nicholls-King, Brady Stablein, Jack Stablein, and Grace Kaiser are some of the starring actors in this production.

The following is the synopsis for “Dandelion” during SXSW: “Dandelion, a struggling singer-songwriter from Cincinnati who is in a downward spiral, takes a last-ditch effort gig at a motorcycle gathering in South Dakota. It is there that she meets Casey, a guitarist who has given up on his ambition for a very long time.

A whirlwind relationship develops between Dandelion and Casey, who are both members of Casey’s itinerant group of struggling artists. The two of them share a common interest in making music together. It is through this experience that Dandelion is able to shift her perspective on success from one that is limited to a more profound appreciation of her artistic path and the finding of a voice that is uniquely her own.

Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National (“Cyrano”) wrote the film’s score and music, while Layne sang and executive-produced.

“‘Dandelion’ is about my journey as a filmmaker told through the lens of a musician,” Riegel told IndieWire. “The world has loudly and quietly reminded me that males handle cameras and guitars since I was a tiny kid. Women’s art is more prone to fault and skepticism, while men’s is trusted as brilliance. Today’s restrictive commercial success criteria can strangle all artists, men and women. Boygenius, Elliot Smith, Joy Oladokun, Tracy Chapman, and Angel Olsen are my musical heroes.

“Like my first film ‘Holler,’ ‘Dandelion’ follows an Ohio woman with an uncertain future pursuing seemingly impossible dreams. Music, like all art, is a lifestyle for me. You do that every morning. I learnt this the hard way, but it helped me find my voice and path. The film is about process and journey, therefore songwriting tells much of its tale.
