Johnny Wactor, well known for his role as Brando Corbin on the popular ABC soap opera “General Hospital,” died on Saturday after being shot. Wactor was shot after interrupting three men suspects attempting to remove a catalytic converter from his vehicle, according to his mother, Scarlett Wactor, who spoke with Los Angeles ABC affiliate KABC. The incident occurred around 3:25 a.m. PT on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Scarlett Wactor reported that her son observed someone at his car after finishing work at a rooftop club. He originally assumed his automobile was being towed. Wactor’s mother reported that as he approached his car, one of the suspects, who was wearing a mask, opened fire on him, and that the police told her that Wactor had done nothing wrong.

While the suspects escaped to an unknown location following the shooting, Wactor was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s official website, the 37-year-old actor passed away as a result of a “gunshot wound to the chest.” The manner of death was determined to be homicide. According to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department, Wactor was fatally shot early Saturday morning during an attempted larceny of a catalytic converter in the downtown area.
The actor, who portrayed Brando Corbin on “General Hospital,” was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.

Johnny Wactor Was Shot “Without Provocation” While the Catalytic Converter From His Car Was Being Stolen: LAPD
Scarlett, the actor’s mother, told ABC7 on Sunday that her son was finishing work at a downtown rooftop bar when the incident happened. Wactor thought his car was being towed at first, so he approached the person and asked if that was the case. She said that the person in the mask shot her son when he looked up.
In their news release, LAPD officers also said that Wactor’s car was raised with a floor jack while the three people tried to steal the catalytic converter. “Without provocation, the victim was shot by one of the individuals,” the LAPD said. “The three suspects were wearing all dark clothing and driving a dark-colored sedan.” Police say the suspects are still on the run. The Central Bureau of Homicide is looking into Wactor’s case.
