American animated mystery series Velma is an adult program that was inspired by the Scooby-Doo character Velma Dinkley. Executive producer Mindy Kaling provides the voice of the title character. Charlie Grandy developed and produced the series for HBO Max. Sam Richardson, Constance Wu, and Glenn Howerton appear in supporting roles.
Furthermore, Grandy assumes the role of the series’ showrunner. It follows Velma Dinkley and the other human members of Mystery Inc. prior to their official formation, eliminating the character Scooby-Doo from the lineup. As such, it is the first television series in the franchise to do so. Season 2 of the animated Scooby-Doo prequel spin-off that Mindy Kaling created, Velma, has at last received its Season 2 premiere date from Max.
The resumption of the series is currently scheduled for April 25. This occurs more than a year after the conclusion of the comedy’s first season, consisting of ten episodes, which was met with unfavorable reception from both viewers and critics. Notwithstanding the unfavorable reception from critics, the series still managed to amass substantial viewership as a result of the adverse scrutiny.
Who’s Involved in Velma?
Sam Register, Howard Klein, Kaling, and showrunner Charlie Grandy are executive producers of Velma. Sam Richardson as Shaggy, Glenn Howerton as Fred, Constance Wu as Daphne, and Kaling as the title character all provide voices in Season 1.

What’s Next for Scooby-Doo?
Other than the second season of Velma, little progress has been made on any new animated films or series in the Scooby-Doo franchise. Since 2003, Warner Bros. has released an average of one to two new Scooby-Doo animated films annually; however, a new installment has not yet been confirmed for 2024.
A Scooby-Doo animated series with a family-oriented concentration has been absent from small-screen programming since the conclusion of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? in 2021.
In contrast, Matthew Lillard, whose voice Shaggy appears in the majority of Scooby-Doo-related media (excluding Velma), recently hinted at his participation in an interactive Scooby-Doo endeavor that will “enable children to immerse themselves in a Scooby-Doo adventure.”
