Whannell wrote and directed Wolf Father, starring Christopher Abbott (Poor Things) as a father whose family is being hunted by a terrifying predator. Originally, October 25, 2024, was set aside for its pre-Halloween release.
Wolf Man, which also stars Julia Garner and formerly had Ryan Gosling linked to the starring role, is produced by Blumhouse and Motel Movies. The film that reimagines the iconic Universal monster is produced by Jason Blum, with executive producers Mel Turner, Bea Sequeira, Ken Kao, Whannell, and Gosling.
Universal’s ‘The Woman in the Yard’ Also Delayed
In the same announcement, Universal disclosed that ‘The Woman in the Yard’, a film produced by Blumhouse, has been removed from its original theatrical release date of January 10, 2025. A revised release date will be disclosed by the studio at a later time.
“The Woman in the Yard” stars Danielle Deadwyler and is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. Although Sam Stefanak penned the narrative for the original horror film, plot details remain confidential.
The producers of ‘The Woman in the Yard’ are Blum and Stephanie Allain, while the executive producers are Collet-Serra, Deadwyler, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg, and James Moran.
Abbott has also been cast in the upcoming Sony film Kraven the Hunter and appeared in Apple TV+’s ‘The Crowded Room’, in addition to his role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ 2023 Oscar-winning film ‘Poor Things’.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Deadwyler, who received critical acclaim for her main role in the 2022 drama ‘Till’, will appear opposite Taron Egerton in Collet-Serra’s upcoming thriller Carry-On, which is scheduled to premiere later this year.
