It’s easy to believe that our favorite celebrities are invincible. You don’t realize that entertainers are human too and are prone to getting sick just like everyone else. They unfortunately can’t cheat death. With that being said, here are the most notable celebrity deaths of 2023.

Lisa Marie Presley

Lisa Marie Presley was born on February 1, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. Although her father was the famous king of rock ‘n roll, Elvis Presley, Lisa made a strong name for herself in Hollywood. She became a respected singer and songwriter. Lisa also had two children, Riley and Benjamin.

On January 12, 2023, Lisa suffered a cardiac arrest at her home in California. Paramedics restarted her heart on the way to the hospital, but she died later that day. She was only 54 years old. People speculate that her death was from the depression of losing her son Benjamin, as he had committed suicide in 2020.

Sinead O’ Conner

Sinéad Marie Bernadette O’Connor was a famous Irish singer who rose to fame after doing a cover of Prince’s song Nothing Compares To You. She was also a passionate activist and fought fiercely against child abuse, organized religion, and racism.

The singer also led an extremely difficult life and claimed that her mother abused her when she was younger. This is partly why Sinead kept her hair shaved. She also struggled for many years with mental health issues.

On July 26, 2023, O’Conner was found unresponsive in her apartment located in London. She was declared dead that same day. Authorities didn’t disclose the cause of death but stated that there was no foul play.

Tina Turner

Tina Turner is known as the sassy singer who gave us songs like The Best and What’s Love Got To Do With It. She rose to fame as the lead singer of a duo group with her then-husband, Ike Turner.

In 1981, Tina revealed to People Magazine how she escaped her abusive marriage to Ike for the first time. Four years later, the singer released an autobiography titled I, Tina, which detailed the accounts of the abuse she had to endure. The book encouraged other domestic abuse survivors to leave their toxic relationships.

Before her death, Tina struggled with a multitude of health issues. She passed away peacefully in her home on May 24, 2023. She will forever be remembered as the queen of rock ‘n roll.

Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry is better known as the quirky and sarcastic character Chandler Bing in the hit TV series Friends. He acted in other romantic comedies like 17 Again and Fools Rush In. Although he played happy characters in his movies, Perry battled with drugs and alcohol behind closed doors.

Loved ones who were close to Matthew stated that he had a heart of gold and was determined to help people struggling the way he did with substance abuse. Sadly, Matthew passed away on October 28, 2023. The late actor was found in his bathtub from an accidental drowning.

Harry Belafonte

Harry Belafonte was a famous singer, actor, songwriter, and activist. He was said to have popularized calypso music. He’s famous for singing the Banana Boat song and Jump in the Line, which were featured in the Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice.

Belafonte’s Calypso album was the first single of the time to sell a million copies by a single artist. From 1954 to 1961, Harry refused to perform in the American South as a protest against the violence and oppression of black people.

On April 25, 2023, Harry died at the age of 96 from heart failure. Look for a stock video from the 1950s that has a similar style to Belafonte’s time to use on websites and social media in honor of Harry.

Sir Michael Gambon

Sir Michael John Gambon is best known for his portrayal of Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter franchise. But the late actor also featured in other movies such as Sleepy Hollow and The King’s Speech. Michael started his acting career as one of the original members of the Royal National Theatre.

Many people don’t know this, but Gambon was a licensed private pilot. He also had an insatiable love for cars, which led him to appear on BBC’s Top Gear.

On September 27, 2023, Michael passed away peacefully in his bed from pneumonia. He had his wife and son by his side when he passed.
