Will There Be a Fourth Season of Sanditon?

It looks like there won’t be, which is sad.

In a statement released in December 2022, PBS Masterpiece said that Sanditon’s third season would be its last. Executive director Susanne Simpson said, “Sanditon has been a very special series for Masterpiece, and we know it has won the hearts of many fans.”

“We’re sad to see the show end, but we know that our fans have a lot to look forward to in this new season.”

Belinda Campbell, the executive director for Red Planet Pictures, said, “It’s exciting to bring Sanditon back for one more trip to the beach. This third and final season has a lot of heart and happiness that fans will love.

Will There Be a Fourth Season of Sanditon?

“Our loyal fans have been so great about supporting the show, and we hope they’ll like how Charlotte and Georgiana’s stories end.”

In an interview with Salon after the season finale aired in the US, head writer Justin Young was even clearer that this was the end: “Let me stress that [season 4] will never happen.

“Throughout the whole process, there were a lot of notes about how important it was to leave some threads open and not wrap up everything for season 4. When we were done with season 3, we thought, “No, this is it.” We were done. I’m happy about that.

“I think the benefits would have been less and less. It’s nice to know that it’s now this trio. It stands on its own and is real.”

What Has the Cast of Sanditon Said About the End of the Show?

In an interview with the Masterpiece Studio show, Rose Williams, who plays Charlotte Heywood, was asked if she was happy with how her character’s story ended.

She said, “It’s been such a gift to be able to play a woman who is trying to find her voice and figure out who she is in a society that was kind of set up so that she wouldn’t be able to do that.” So, the answer is yes.”

Crystal Clarke, who plays Georgiana, was also asked how it felt to say goodbye to her character on the same show.

She told him, “I’m very grateful. I feel thankful for the people. I’m glad with how Georgiana’s story has turned out. It’s so sad and happy at the same time. Also, it seems to have come out of nowhere. I thought it was over, and then all of a sudden, we were back. So I was like, “Huh, I don’t know, I didn’t expect that.” But I’m very thankful for what I went through.”

She continued, “There was a card made for me right before I came back for seasons 2 and 3, and it meant so much to know that there were people who supported me and understood that it wasn’t an easy choice for me to make or the easiest situation to be in.

“That’s why I’m so thankful for this experience. As Georgiana, I’ve learned a lot, and I’ve also learned a lot.”
