Taron Egerton as Jimmy Keene
Jimmy was a popular and talented football player at Kankakee Eastridge High School. He also had many supportive friends and a bright future. The previously promising football player was picked up by a big college, but instead of playing football, he became a prolific drug dealer. Keene was arrested for narcotics trafficking in 1996 and given a ten-to-life term.
Jimmy, the son of a highly distinguished police chief, looked for loopholes in his lengthy sentence. Keene was offered the choice between serving out his sentence in a minimum-security jail or being transferred to a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane so that he could go undercover for the FBI.
Once Keene arrives at the rundown prison, he is tasked with getting serial murderer suspect Larry Hall to confess and locating the bodies of his victims. They’ll release Keene if he helps them convict Hall, so long as he provides the evidence they need. Keene accepted the job in hopes of doing less time in prison, but he was unprepared for the ordeal that awaited him.
Taron Egerton will play the gangster who has to work his way out of prison. Egerton has been the lead in several biopics, including those based on the lives of Elton John (Rocketman) and Eddie Edwards (Eddie the Eagle), and is most recognized for his portrayal as Eggsy in the Kingsman film series.

The actor who plays Kingsman was named Action Star of the Year at the 2018 CinemaCon. Playing Keene, a prisoner who experienced violence at the hands of his fellow convicts will allow him to draw on his skills in action roles and fight choreography.

Paul Walter Hauser as Larry Hall
Even though Larry Hall has been linked to the deaths of 40 women in Black Bird, police have only located the remains of one victim. Hall claims he is not a murderer, but he frequently murders women in his fantasies.
Despite the suspect’s claims that his visions are merely dreams, the police are concerned that he may escape from prison and resume his murderous ways if he is not convicted. Hall, an enthusiast about war reenactments, was arrested when police discovered ropes, knives, chemicals, and masks in his tan van, which he had used to pursue young females.
In both cinema and television, Paul Walter Hauser has portrayed a wide range of characters. In the upcoming 2021 Disney picture Cruella, he plays Horace, the dimwitted criminal sidekick of the stylish antihero. In comedies like Super Troopers 2 and Reno 911!, Hauser often plays characters he deems doofuses.
However, he is no beginner when it comes to serious roles. This year (2017), Hauser portrayed Shawn Eckhardt in the drama film I, Tonya. Hauser’s portrayal of the ice skater’s bodyguard was a spot-on imitation of the real-life character who played a significant role in the assault on Nancy Kerrigan.
Hauser has admitted that he was hesitant to play Larry Hall because, as he gets older, he finds genuine crime increasingly unsettling. The actor from BlacKkKlansman, however, thinks the Black Bird story is more about the bond between Hall and Keene than it is about blood and guts. Delia’s Gone and National Anthem, both rumored to be violent thrillers, are two other projects of Hauser’s that are currently in post-production.
To play Larry Hall, Hauser had to drastically alter himself, dropping 40 pounds and raising the pitch of his voice. The guy who played him in Cobra Kai wore prosthetics to replicate Hall’s signature muttonchop sideburns.
