Alan’s Cause Of Death
Alan Thicke got a scary warning about his heart months before he died.
The Growing Pains actor died on December 13 at age 69 after collapsing while playing hockey with his youngest son, Carter. His official death certificate, which PEOPLE got a copy of, said that he died from a “ruptured aorta” and a “standard type A aortic dissection.”
Before he died, the actor and his wife Tanya (Callau) Thicke filmed an episode of Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry that will air on Wednesday. In a sneak peek of the episode that E! News showed, Henry meets up with Tanya to watch Tyler’s reading with Alan, in which he warned the actor about the health of his heart months before he died.

“I want to remember this… I have to talk about health, which is kind of like talking about health with family “In the clip, Henry tells Alan. “It’s a good idea for the men in your family to just keep in mind that blood pressure is something we need to keep in mind.”
“From a family and genetics point of view, it’s possible that there are multiple men in your family who deal with high blood pressure and either a heart murmur or heart arrhythmia as they get older,” he says. “But I feel like I have to go to heart, which is related to blood pressure.”
“So kinda keep that in mind. I know some people who have died and dealt with it in a similar way, “says Henry. “It’s almost like saying, ‘Keep your own heart in mind.#
Then Alan gets a message that tells him to “take charge” of his health.
Tanya, who married Alan in 2005, told E! News last week that it’s “devastating” to learn that Henry saw cardiac issues in Alan.
My husband went in for a thorough checkup two months later, and he got clean health of bill, so I think the fact that he touched on the heart and kind of continued emphasizing helped. “For Alan, this was a catastrophic heart attack or aortic dissection. There was no hint of this in any of the family trees, but it turns out to be genetic. Those findings were not something that medical professionals would have been actively seeking.”
She also let slip that the couple was expecting their first child together.
“So that we could do the entire sperm thing and have a baby, Alan went in for a full physical to make sure he was healthy and prepared. the timing of it was just incredible,” she remarked.
“As you’ll learn in the episode, Alan did ask Tyler if he saw kids when you conducted the reading. And Tyler responded, “No.” “Her words carried on. “And I kept telling Alan, ‘Isn’t it weird that Tyler didn’t see that?#
Alan’s two eldest kids, Brennan, and Robin Thicke are suing their mother, Tanya. According to court records acquired by PEOPLE, the couple has filed a case against her, saying that she is now claiming that the prenuptial agreement she signed before marrying the star is unlawful.
Tanya’s attorney, Adam F. Streisand, however, told PEOPLE According to the document, Tanya “has never claimed that the prenup is invalid and has no intention of ever claiming it.”
Streisand added in a statement to PEOPLE, “Tanya Thicke has never threatened to take private family things public, and she never has.” “Alan’s sons have clearly chosen this disgusting public slander technique to coerce Tanya by inciting the tabloid media, launching a frivolous lawsuit, and refusing family mediation. In private, Tanya plans to deal with Alan’s boys’ lies because she is still grieving the loss of her spouse.”
You can catch Tyler Henry’s Hollywood Medium on E! every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.
