The Vatican Addresses the Controversy Surrounding the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony: Pope Francis Expressed His Sadness

Not everyone who saw the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, including the Vatican, was a fan of the extravagant homage to French history that took place along the Seine River.

Pope Francis was particularly “saddened” by a tableau of drag queens and other performers that seemed to be a parody of the “Last Supper” by Leonardo Da Vinci, according to commentators.
