Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has set the digital release date for Back to Black, Focus Features’ latest biographical film on the late Grammy-winning artist Amy Winehouse. This comes more than two weeks after the film’s theatrical launch.

Back to Black will be available for renting or purchasing on digital platforms, From June 4, 2024. The film has currently earned $47 million in worldwide box office. Despite a deficient Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it received an Audience Score of 86%.

Sam Taylor-Johnson directed the film, which was based on a script penned by Matt Greenhalgh, with whom he had previously collaborated on the 2009 film Nowhere Boy. It features Marisa Abela (Industry) as Winehouse, Jack O’Connell (Ferrari), Eddie Marsan (Fair Play), and Lesley Manville (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris). Universal Music Group, Sony Music Publishing, and The Amy Winehouse Estate provided their entire support for the production of the film.
The synopsis describes the extraordinary journey of Amy Winehouse from her childhood in Camden to the creation of her groundbreaking album, BACK TO BLACK, which propelled her to global renown. “The film delves into the diverse layers of the iconic artist and the tumultuous love story at the heart of one of the most legendary albums of all time, as seen through Amy’s perspective and inspired by her deeply personal lyrics.”

Marisa Abela Portrays Amy Winehouse in Back to Black
Marisa Abela plays the small celebrity with a powerful voice. Maris attended ‘Amy boot camp’ for this part, which included guitar lessons, fitness training, and two vocal coaches – one to help her learn Amy’s north London accent and the other to hone her singing voice.
