A release date for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been determined as DC Studios eventually moves the project forward. In addition to having Milly Alcock confirmed as the protagonist, the production has also appointed a director and a writer. Arriving swiftly after James Gunn’s Superman, it will be the second film set in the DCU to be released in theaters.
The June 2026 Release Date for Milly Alcock’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is Set
Milly Alcock of House of the Dragon was selected in the role of Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, in late January of this year. Her anticipated involvement in Gunn’s forthcoming Superman film could pave the way for her solo endeavor.

Tuesday, Warner Bros. announced in a press release that Supergirl, which will premiere in theaters less than a year after Superman, will assault the box office. Additionally, Peter Safran and James Gunn have discovered a writer-director tandem with whom they are satisfied.

Craig Gillespie Has Revealed that he will be Directing the DCU’s New Supergirl Movie
Craig Gillespie, the filmmaker of Dumb Money, was reportedly supposed to be in talks to direct Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. He has officially signed on to helm the film, alongside Ana Nogueira, who is writing the screenplay. Her script will be inspired by the same-named Supergirl comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
Besides Alcock, no other actor or character has been confirmed to appear in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow yet. It’s unclear whether David Corenswet’s Man of Steel will make a cameo appearance.
While the DCU appears to be moving forward, release dates for three more previously announced films from Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters have yet to be determined. The Brave and the Bold, The Authority, and Swamp Thing are among the films set to be released after Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in 2026.
