Joey King feels she had to “grow up a little bit faster”. The 24-year-old actress first found fame as a child, starring in her first commercial at the age of four, and Joey now believes that she’s been forced to mature at an accelerated speed.
During an appearance on the ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast, Joey explained: “I’ve been in a world in which I’ve been exposed to adulthood. I had a mortgage by the time I was 14. “Responsibility makes you grow up a little bit faster.” Joey encountered “absolutely no opposition” from her peers and family regarding her choice to wed Steven Piet.
The actress, who was married in 2023, stated, “Everyone in my life and my family absolutely adores Steven. He is the most effortless individual to adore. “Everyone was extremely ecstatic.”

However, Joey believes that she is unable to prevail against some of her detractors. “Either ‘You’re too young,’ ‘You’re too old,’ or ‘How long have you been dating?'” she divulged. or “Where’s the ring? You haven’t been together for that long; you don’t know each other that well.”
In recent months, Joey has not appreciated some of the life advice that has been imparted to her. The ‘Kissing Booth’ star remarked, “People are fond of offering unsolicited marriage advice. As soon as our wedding day arrived, individuals advised us to “buckle up.” Marriage is difficult. And we are seated here thinking, “Wonderful.” We appreciate your remark to us newlyweds. It is great to hear it.'”
Additionally, Joey noted that several members of her family entered into matrimony at an even earlier stage of life. “It was so common at the time that my grandmother got married at the age of eighteen,” she elaborated. “If someone had witnessed my grandmother wed at the age of 18, they would have wondered, ‘Why is she taking so long?'” Thus, everything is relative, and each individual is unique.”
