Before entering into matrimony with producer Siddharth Roy Kapur on December 14, 2012 (Bollywood actress Vidya Balan), the two had been romantically involved for some time. Little was known regarding the couple’s relationship until they mutually agreed to formalize it.

Vidya disclosed at an event hosted by The Indian Express that the couple spared no publicity regarding their personal lives at a time when the paparazzi culture in Bollywood had just begun to take hold.

Vidya Balan continued by saying that it was a lot of fun to keep her romance a secret. “I didn’t want it to come out anywhere, and the paparazzi culture had just begun,” the woman remarked. Our initial dates, as I recall, were limited to vehicle outings. We would continue our drive. Town to Bandra and back. But those were crazy, exhilarating moments, and I believe part of the fun was that there was a hint of secrecy to it, which I loved. It was a lot of fun.

Vidya Balan acknowledged that occasionally she worried if men were following her due to her celebrity status before to marriage.
