Based on Rachel Yoder’s 2021 novel of the same name, Nightbitch is an upcoming American comedic horror film written and directed by Marielle Heller. Amy Adams, Scoot McNairy, and Zoe Chao are the main actors.
This December, Nightbitch, a new horror comedy starring Amy Adams, will hit theaters around the country. On December 6, 2024, Nightbitch will be released in theaters, according to a statement from Searchlight Pictures.
What is the Plot of Nightbitch?
According to Deadline, the plot of Nightbitch revolves around Adams portraying a woman who is “forced into the mundane task of staying at home and raising a toddler in the suburbs.” As she becomes more cognizant of the peculiar and indisputable indications that she may be transforming into a dog, she gradually comes to embrace the primal strength that is ingrained in motherhood.
Part II of A Quiet Place actor Scoot McNairy portrays the spouse of Adams’ character in the film.
Nightbitch is an adaptation of the 2021 novel of the same name by Rachel Yoder. Marielle Heller, who previously produced The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015), Can You Ever Forgive Me (2018), and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019), authored and directed the film. She also appeared in the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit as Alma Wheatley.

“The book by Rachel Yoder drew me to my feet,” Heller had previously stated. “Not in many years, ever since I read The Diary of a Teenage Girl, have I felt this strongly about a book. I felt heard as a result of Rachel’s darkly hilarious account of motherhood and fury. And it was by modifying it with Amy Adams in mind that I managed to persevere amidst the pandemic.”
Stacy O’Neil, Heller, Adams, Anne Carey, Sue Naegle, and Christina Oh serve as producers of Nightbitch. The Motion Picture Association (MPA) assigned the film an R-grade in June 2023, citing “language and some sexuality” as critical deficiencies.
