Is Kate on Jeopardy Transgender? Undoubtedly, Kate Freeman made history in 2020 when she became one of the first transgender people to compete on “Jeopardy!”
Freeman, a trans woman, won $5,599 on the show. He worked as a financial researcher after graduating from the University of Michigan. Since she was a child, she had wanted to be on Jeopardy.
The last round of Jeopardy was about Broadway Revivals, and the question was about West Side Story. The Final Jeopardy question was wrong for everyone, but Freeman won the most money at the end of the night.
The Michigan news site MLive talked to Freeman about the experience and she said being on the show was like a dream come true.
“Competing was equal parts thrilling and nerve-wracking,” she told us. “It’s so much harder to time that buzzer right than it looks when you watch at home.” It was just like my youth dreams of being on the show. The chance to meet Alex before he died was an honor.
She also told them she was proud that she could add some transgender people to the show. “In graduate school, I learned a lot about and thought a lot about my gender identity. A few months before I graduated, I came out as transgender and lesbian.” I’m proud to be gay, and I know how important it is to be equal.
There is proof that some contestants have changed their gender after the show, but she is thought to be the first trans person to have competed.
On Monday, Freeman returned to the show as the winner, but a career counselor from San Leandro, California, beat her.
Someone else on the show last week, Cody Lawrence, 28, from Sherman Oaks, California, wore a gay pride pin. Even though he did well, he ended up coming in third.
