The Night Agent Season 2: After the first season of The Night Agent became one of Netflix’s most-watched shows ever, a second season has been announced.
The political drama has a lot of twists and turns like 24. FBI agent Peter Sutherland finds conspirators inside the government, rogue killers, and a murder witness named Rose who he needs to protect if he wants to find answers.
“He almost became a Navy SEAL until he tore his labrum,” Ryan told TV Insider in an interview. “I told him as a joke, ‘Peter isn’t as cool as you are in real life.'”
So, is Peter/Gabriel strong enough to make it through more than one season of bomb plots and try to kill him? Here’s everything we know about season two of The Night Agent.
Is the Second Season of The Night Agent coming Back or Not?
Since the first season hasn’t started yet, season two of the show has neither been renewed nor dropped. If the first season does well, it’s possible that Netflix will order a second one. Let’s be calm until then and wait for more news.
The Night Agent Season 2 Release Date
The news is good! A few days after the first season came out, Netflix announced that the popular show would be back for a second season. The Night Agent has been picked up for a new season of 10 episodes.
In a statement about the extension, Ryan said, “The last week has been a whirlwind because we’ve finally been able to share The Night Agent with the world.”
“Seeing how well the show has been received has been a great pleasure, and it’s a credit to our cast, writers, directors, crew, and partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix.” We couldn’t be happier or more proud to get started on Season 2 and share more Night Action adventures with our new friends.”
Jimmy Howe, Vice President of Drama Series at Netflix, said in a statement, “We’re proud to see The Night Agent have a breakout performance and be loved right away all over the world.”
Who Will Be Back for Season 2 of The Night Agent?
There are a lot of people who don’t make it to the end of The Night Agent because of bullets, bombs, and a couple of determined hitmen (RIP, special agents Erik Monks and Ben Almora, we’ll miss you).
But some of the important characters make it to the end, so they could come back if the writers don’t change the script (more on that below). The following people could come back for Season 2:
Actor/Actress | Character |
---|---|
Gabriel Basso | FBI agent Peter Sutherland |
Luciane Buchanan | Tech whiz Rose Larkin |
Hong Chau | (Former) Chief of Staff Diane Farr |
Sarah Desjardins | VP’s daughter Maddie Redfield |
Fola Evans-Akingbola | Secret Service agent Chelsea Arrington |
The Story of Season 2 of The Night Agent
The first season of The Night Agent ends in a way that definitely leaves Peter and Rose with more questions than answers.
In the last episode, after Peter and Rose have saved the day (and the President) from VP Redfield and Diane Farr’s plans to kill the President, Peter says goodbye to Rose in a romantic way as he gets ready for his first task as a Night Agent. He doesn’t know where he’s going or what his job is, but he promises to call her as soon as he can.
Ryan said that he is already thinking about what could happen to Peter after that final scene and what it could mean for his friendship with Silicon Valley CEO Rose.
“That’s one of the big questions we’d love to answer in season two,” Ryan told Tudum from Netflix.
“What does it mean that Peter is getting on this plane and going somewhere (likely overseas to start a new wild adventure) while Rose is going back to California to try to follow her dreams of working in Silicon Valley again? We do have some ideas to start with.”
While waiting for the premiere of The Night Agent Season 2, you can watch more shows in the same genre. Some examples of such shows are Pieces of Her Season 2 and The Chosen One Season 2.
Conclusion
Netflix has announced a second season of the political drama, The Night Agent, which follows FBI agent Peter Sutherland as he navigates conspirators, rogue killers, and a murder witness named Rose. The show has not been renewed or dropped, but if the first season does well, Netflix may order a second one.
The cast includes Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, Hong Chau, Sarah Desjardins, and Fola Evans-Akingbola. The show’s creator, Ryan, is considering the future of Peter and Rose’s friendship and the implications of their departure.
