You might not be as far from a new God of War as you think. Sony Santa Monica put up a job offer that seems to focus a lot on their most popular series.
God of War (2018) and its sequel God of War Ragnarok were such huge hits that Amazon is making a TV show based on them. So, it makes sense that Sony would want to make a follow-up to the first-party PlayStation game that sold the most copies the fastest.
Fans have been talking about the possibility of a second God of War game since before Ragnarok came out. Now that new information has come out, fans are talking again about the next God of War game.
Fans were first told by a tweet from Rob Meyer, the lead Combat Designer at Sony Santa Monica. Meyer put up a link to an ad for a full-time Combat Designer on the Sony Santa Monica website.

The most important piece of proof that the community has found for a possible God of War sequel is a very specific part of the job ad. “Must know God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022) and be able to talk in-depth about the combat systems, mechanics, and enemies,” the ad said.
Meyer’s own words were less clear. He only said that there were “a few different Combat Design openings” at Sony Santa Monica.
The studio is working on three games right now, one of which is being led by Cory Barlog.
Even though Barlog hasn’t said what his next game will be, fans think it might be a new God of War with Kratos’s son Atreus in charge. The job postings were shared on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, where members of the community gave their opinions.
“After the crazy critical and financial success of the last two God of War games, you can bet that they started working on a new one as soon as they finished Ragnarok,” one person said. “They’d be insane to leave that kind of money on the table,” said someone else.
Some fans have suggested that the job postings were for possible DLC, but most of them were hoping for a sequel. There were many ideas for enemies, like Hindu and Shinto gods, but our best was a surprising idea for “a showdown with Jesus.”
Though, this heavy theory should be taken with a boulder-sized grain of salt. There are no official details about a God of War sequel, but Dexerto will be there if and when the news comes out.
