Dayve Sanchez Death
On Tuesday afternoon in Apex, following an alleged shoplifting incident, an investigator with the State Bureau of Investigation shot and killed 18-year-old Dayve Sanchez.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the Academy Sports and Outdoors store located in the Pine Plaza Drive shopping center. Family Members Statement:
Dayve Sanchez, 18, had family members contact ABC11 on Tuesday. They identified him as the man who had been shot and killed at 1:30 p.m., near the Apex sports goods store, after a quarrel over stealing.
Joyce Bloodsworth, a close friend of the family, remarked, “Dayve is loved.” He is really young. We want answers because we care so much about him and he was so young; he should not have died at the age of 18.
Sanchez’s mother says the family didn’t find out about her son’s involvement until hours later. The family was surprised by the news since they felt it did not fit with their perception of who Sanchez was. Agents conduct interviews with possible witnesses, examine documents and electronic data, and examine physical evidence.
