The superhero satire shows The Boys on Amazon Prime Video has now had three completely crazy seasons, each one crazier than the last. As the show goes on, though, we get to know the characters better and better. Let’s find out more about The Boys Season 4.
A Peek Into The Boys Series
Heroes like Hughie, Starlight, and Billy Butcher, and bad guys like Homelander and Soldier Boy, are among the characters we learn more about as the show goes on.
Still, as Season 4 of the show gets closer — it was officially announced on June 10 — you start to wonder if the end is near. With each jaw-dropping moment, the show has done a great job of making us care about its main characters and fall in love with them.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has a plan because each season of The Boys does a great job of setting up what will happen in the next season. We just hope it comes soon.
After a season with a superhero who blew up a penis from the inside and a giant superhero orgy, you start to wonder how far things can go and how much further they can go. But this team hasn’t let us down yet, so our hopes (and expectations) are still as high as a Homelander flying through the clouds.
What Will the Boys Season 4 Be About?
From the end of Season 3, we know what we have to work with, which is a lot. Butcher took way too much Temp-V, and now his brain is like Swiss cheese. He only has 12 to 18 months to live. Who knows how far into the future we’ll be when Season 4 starts up again.

Perhaps more importantly, at the end of Season 3, Homelander (in a clear reference to Donald Trump’s famous “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters” quote from 2016) laser-cut the head of a protestor into a million pieces…and his adoring fans cheered him on.
What kind of an example does this set? Not very good! Homelander’s son Ryan also came to this event. After the fight with Soldier Boy and Butcher, Ryan was now following his father. Nothing here is good.
What Are The Spoilers of The Boys Season 4?
Spoiler! In The Boys comics, Black Noir is actually a supercharged copy of Homelander who goes even crazier than Homelander himself, and in the end, Homelander’s worst crimes are blamed on him.
Ryan’s evil smile at the end of the season made me think that he might turn out to be just as bad as his father. We already know that the Black Noir story can’t really go that way, so maybe a mix of the two is what happens.
Also not good? Victoria Neumann is running as Dakota Bob Singer’s running mate now that Stan Edgar is out of the way and power has been streamlined for Homelander.
This is possible because The Deep killed the previous running mate on behalf of Homelander, which made this possible. That could put the head-popper one head pop away from being the most powerful person in the free world. There’s a lot to look into, people.
Who Will Be Back for Season 4 of the Boys?
In the season 3 finale of The Boys, many characters were very close to dying, but only one of them actually died. We’re sad to say that Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell), whose guts were ripped out by Homelander, won’t be back for a second season (Antony Starr).
Even though Dominique McElligott’s Queen Maeve didn’t die too soon, it’s not clear whether or not McElligott will play the role again. Her character arc seems to be over (more on that below), but we really hope to see her on the call sheet.
We did expect the following cast members to be there bright and early on August 22 with Karl Urban:
- Hughie Campbell Jr., played by Jack Quaid
- Mother’s Milk with Laz Alonso (MM)
- Serge Frenchie as Tomer Capone
- Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro
- Annie January/Starlight, played by Erin Moriarty
- Antony Starr on the show Homeland
- The Deep, played by Chace Crawford(Instagram)
- A-Train stars Jessie T. Usher.
- Cameron Crovetti as Ryan
- Giancarlo Esposito as Stan Edgar
- Ashley Barrett is played by Colby Minifie
- Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman
We also think Soldier Boy will come back, which means we’ll get to see more of Jensen Ackles, which can’t be a bad thing.
That’s the kibosh on Season 3. We had fun, didn’t we? #TheBoysFinale pic.twitter.com/oARVcHxd6r

What Will Happen in the Boys Season 4?
Your guess is just as good as Karl Urban’s, who told Collider in the same interview that he didn’t know what happened to the characters.
“I have no idea. So that should tell you something, but not much,” he said. “Well, I mean, I think we’ll… I’m actually going to see Kripke next week (early July), and I’m sure we’ll start talking about what he has planned.
“I like to show them respect by letting them write without being bothered by actors asking, “What are you doing?” I can’t wait, though. They always come up with crazy ideas, so it should be fun.”
Well, we don’t want to make things harder, but we need to know!
The last time we saw Butcher, he had been sentenced to death. The tough-as-nails Supe slayer died because he used the temporary V drug too much. This could be the end for him unless Kripke has something up his sleeve.
What Is The Fate of Queen Maeve in The Boys Season 4?
Queen Maeve’s fate was also unknown. During her fight with Soldier Boy, he “hungry-caterpillar” her powers, eating them up until she was just a normal person.
Maeve seemed happy with the outcome and used the fact that she lost as an excuse to fake her own death so she could be with her girlfriend Elena in peace (Nicola Correia-Damude). But we can’t help but want Maeve to come back.
Soldier Boy might have been put on ice, but we don’t think that will last forever. When he wakes up, he’ll have some things to make up for, and if there isn’t a showdown between father and son soon, we’re writing a letter that starts, “Dear Eric Kripke, explain yourself.”
After Homelander took over, Vought and The Seven got out of hand. The Deep and A-Train were not the most powerful people in the gang, but they are the only ones left. One way or another, season four of The Boys will have to deal with how the company gets back on its feet. We wouldn’t be surprised if Ryan was taught his beliefs from a young age.
If that’s not enough, we can’t forget about the head-popper Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), whose ultimate plan hasn’t been revealed yet, but we have a feeling we’re getting close.
When Will the Boys Season 4 Come Out?
Right now, we don’t know. Karl Urban, who plays Butcher, told Collider in a recent interview that filming for Season 4 could be expected to start as soon as Spring 2023 according to internal sources. Season 1 premiered on July 26, 2019, Season 2 on September 4, 2020, and Season 3 on June 3, 2022.
