Following her husband, professional dancer Artem Chigvintsev, being arrested for domestic abuse, Nikki Garcia is coming out.
“Nikki requests privacy for herself and her family at this time, as this is a private matter,” Garcia’s representative said in a statement to Us Weekly on Friday, August 30.
On Thursday, August 29, word spread that Chigvintsev had been taken into custody in Napa County, California, on charges of domestic abuse. Us Weekly was able to access online jail documents that showed Chigvintsev was brought into custody earlier on Thursday.
That afternoon, he was freed after a $25,000 bail was agreed upon.
The professional dancer was detained on suspicion of injuring a husband, cohabitant, or other parent in violation of California Penal Code section 273.5(a). A conviction may result in a misdemeanor or felony charge, with a felony conviction carrying a maximum term of $6,000 in fines and up to four years in state prison.
A misdemeanor conviction, on the other hand, often carries a maximum fine of $6,000 and a maximum term of one year in county jail.
It took some time for the events surrounding Chigvintsev’s detention to become public.
Chigvintsev and the former Total Bellas star, who have a 4-year-old son named Matteo, commemorated their second wedding anniversary earlier this week.
He posted on Instagram earlier this week, wishing you a happy anniversary and said, “Can’t imagine my life without you.” “You are everything to me.”
Garcia also paid homage to her husband by singing “Just Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley.
