“After that night, I woke up and, for the first time in ten years, the only voice in my head was mine—fear and doubt were absent—and (my wife) Dorothea texted the kids to say, ‘He’s back!'”

Not only did he confront difficult topics regarding his health in Thank You, Goodnight. Additionally, Bon Jovi and his band had to contend with the passing of original bassist Alec John Such, who was dismissed from the group in 1994 for substance abuse and alcohol-related problems. Such passed away in 2022.

Although the series is devoted to Such, some of its most tense and devastating moments occur between Richie Sambora and Bon Jovi, his former bandmate. Although the two collaborated on a number of Bon Jovi’s most popular songs during their chart-topping years, Sambora and the group have only performed together once since his departure in 2013: in 2018 at the band’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
