After 14 Years, Former ‘Tonight Show’ Host Conan O’Brien Will Return as a Guest for the Very First Time!

On Tuesday, Conan O’Brien made a comeback to the Tonight Show, where he and host Jimmy Fallon talked back to O’Brien’s earlier days hosting NBC’s late-night programs. Before spending a brief time on The Tonight Show from 2009 to 2010, the comedian headlined Late Night for 16 seasons, from 1993 to 2009.

During his most recent visit, O’Brien said to Fallon, “It’s weird to come back.” “It feels like I haven’t been in this building or on this floor in a very long time.”

“All these memories came flooding back to me,” he continued. “I was here for 16 years doing the Late Night show before we went out to L.A. and right across the hall.” Later, O’Brien made light of the fact that other sets were constructed in the space that had formerly been his show’s studio.

Fallon also mentioned that O’Brien was his first-ever appearance on a talk show earlier in their interview. The presenter then displayed a picture of himself from 1999 when he appeared as a guest on Late Night with O’Brien, saying, “I was honored to be on your show.”

Conan O’Brien’s Exit From “The Tonight Show”

One of the most memorable late-night departures from NBC’s The Tonight Show is still O’Brien’s sudden resignation.

Despite the fact that Jay Leno has already handed the Tonight reins to O’Brien, the network started developing plans for a new program that would feature Leno in the same time slot. Following O’Brien’s departure after just seven months in charge, Leno returned to host until Fallon took over in 2014.

In 2019, at his last and most memorable Tonight show, he said that the NBC program had allowed him to realize a lifelong dream. “I just want to say to the kids out there watching: You can do anything you want in life,” he continued in his monologue at the time. Unless Jay Leno feels like doing it as well.

O’Brien also advertised his forthcoming travel series Conan O’Brien Must Go, which premieres on Max on April 18, during his most recent Tonight Show visit.
