As a group of thieves and outlaws, the Red Dead Redemption 2 players’ main goal is to make money. They want to make sure they have a successful future where they can be free to do whatever they want. At the same time, players want it so they can buy better gear and open up more ways to have fun in the Old West. Unfortunately, not all of these are worth what it costs to get in.
Some things you can do in Red Dead Redemption 2 are just a waste of money. They ask players to give them their hard-earned money in exchange for useless items. Even worse is that they can get those things without spending money if they just play the game.
When fans find out this, they wonder why these deals are even here in the first place. In fact, these things are what set the gunslingers apart from the fools.
5. Weapons & Ammo
Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in the Wild West, where there are many shops. Many of these shops sell guns and ammunition. Any wannabe gunslingers who want to improve their arsenals might be tempted by these. Most of the time, though, they’re not needed at all.
Arthur has a lot of guns at his disposal. These are more than enough to tell the story. After all, shootouts aren’t exactly hard, especially when Auto-Aim and Dead Eye modes are turned on. The enemy dies by the dozens, and when they do, they leave enough guns and ammunition for the winners to keep going.
The only time these might not work is when you have a hard side job, like shooting. But even that isn’t a given. With the right amount of bullets in the right place, you can kill almost anything. This means that there is no market for more guns.
4. Most upgrades to a camp
To match how the gang acts like a family, the game tells players to do their fair share. This comes from people giving money. Arthur can give money to the camp every week. The money can then be used to build new buildings or improve the ones that are already there.
These changes are supposed to boost confidence, but they don’t help the player much. The only big exception is Arthur’s tent, which has a plan that lets you use Fast Travel. This ease is obvious, but it doesn’t work for the other homes.
These tents and wagons don’t seem to be very useful. Most of them just leave food, ammunition, and other things out. The easiest way to get these is to travel around the world or buy them in the nearest town. When Arthur is at camp, it’s cool to have a stock, but it’s not necessary by any means. It’s mostly for people who have too much money lying around.
3. Expensive Horses
This is another need that can be met with a little bit of work. Arthur’s first horse is just a small pony. It moves slowly because it has low stats. He is lucky that it won’t be long before he makes enough money to buy a better horse. He will finally have enough money to buy the most expensive horses, but he shouldn’t do that.
The way they are joined together makes them useless. Arthur’s horse gets closer to him when he feeds, brushes, and ties it up. In turn, this makes its scores much better than they were before. Soon, a mid-level horse can be as strong as a stallion.
All you have to do is care for the animal for a few seconds at a time. Also, this makes people like the horse more than when they got a thoroughbred on a whim. You can also find the best horses in Red Dead Redemption 2 outside of the barns.
2. Films
The movie theater may be the least useful extra thing to do in Red Dead Redemption 2. Players pay to go into a dark room, watch a cheap cartoon for a few minutes, and then leave with nothing. Even so, that was about the average length of early movies, and you could argue that including them makes the Old West feel more real.
Sad to say, that doesn’t change the fact that they are useless. Most players only use them when told to, like when Arthur goes on a date with his ex-girlfriend or when John proposes to Abigail. If the creators had put more effort into making them social, they could have been useful.
In particular, going to a show might have been a fun way to get to know other people. The stage is used in Yakuza: Like a Dragon to help the hero get along better with his party members.
Other entries give Completion Points or Virtue, which are special kinds of money, for doing things like this. Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn’t have anything like this. The horses are the only way to connect, but they aren’t allowed in the building. Players shouldn’t pay the admission fee, no matter how small it is.
1. Winter Clothing
In this way, fans may be fooled by the hours of operation. Arthur and his friends stay in a snowy mountain area for a while. After that, the game tells players to keep a lot of clothes for different temperatures. People might think that the gang is always out in the cold, but that isn’t the case.
It doesn’t happen very often, if at all. Most of the land on the map is either a hot desert or a moderate forest. The players only go to the tundra at the beginning and end of the story. For these parts of the game, the game automatically gives the players warm, heavy clothes.
Then, the players get to keep these clothes, even though they don’t need them. They’ll only go there for the occasional hunting trip or side task. Still, stores still sell winter clothes. By making these things, the developers have taken away their market.
