Prior to joining the television profession, Williams worked as a radio DJ and host, earning a reputation as a shock jock in New York. Her on-air squabbles with celebrities led her to fame, and she was the focus of the 2006 VH1 reality television series The Wendy Williams Experience, which chronicled the events surrounding her radio show.
