Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor, former stars of Vanderpump Rules, are finally divorcing after a protracted separation that was initially made public in February.
In addition to having starred in a 2017 spin-off titled Jax And Brittany Take Kentucky, Brittany and Jax have a long experience with reality TV. They made their VPR debuts in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and are now featured in another spin-off, The Valley.
As recently as June, Brittany and Jax revealed that they wished to move past their disagreements, although their relationship had been on the rocks for some time.
Even still, there were several complications while discussing a reconciliation:
“Even though their marital problems were documented months earlier, viewers of the show were perplexed by their reconciliation because, just days earlier, he revealed that they were ‘open to seeing other people.'”
“Adding to the scandal, Taylor alleged that Cartwright had been intimate with another person.”
Jax entered an inpatient treatment center at the end of July, but earlier this month, there were rumors that his marital problems were causing him to lose his mind.
When we revealed a week ago that Jax was almost done with his therapy and heading back home, their co-stars from The Valley posted a contentious joke on Instagram regarding the couple’s turbulent history.
All told, there have been several indications this year on the state of their marriage, very few of which have been encouraging.
Following their announcement of their separation, six months later, Brittany formally filed for divorce.
Brittany Requests Full Custody, Claiming “Irreconcilable Differences”
On February 29, Brittany and Jax first announced their split on an episode of their podcast, When Reality Hits.
According to People, Brittany disclosed that they had been living apart in response to inquiries from fans over the state of their marriage:
“A lot of you guys have been inquiring about the friendship between Jax and [myself]. We’ve shared a great deal of our lives with you guys, so I just believe it’s vital to be genuine and honest with you guys.
“I know I mentioned in my previous podcast [episode] how many marriages have difficult periods… For the sake of my mental health, Jax and I are taking some time apart, and I have decided to move into a different house.”
Documents from Brittany’s divorce application were obtained by TMZ on August 27, and they said that “irreconcilable differences” were the reason for the marriage’s split.
In addition to other requirements, Brittany stated that she and Jax split on January 24 and that she is requesting primary custody of their toddler son, Cruz:
“‘Irreconcilable disagreements’ was Brittany’s justification for divorcing him. With visitation rights for Taylor, she is requesting primary legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son, Cruz.
Cartwright requests that the court not grant spousal support to either party.
During the second season of The Valley’s filming, news broke of Brittany and Jax’s divorce. Fans of the show expect a significant emphasis on the events leading up to and following their breakup.
