Family has always been the Bidens’ top priority. That was evident as Hunter Biden’s wife, Melissa Cohen, accompanied him to the federal courthouse in downtown Wilmington on Monday ahead of his trial. Soon after, his sister Ashley Biden, as well as his stepmother and first lady Jill Biden, entered the courthouse. Everyone sat directly behind Hunter in the courtroom Monday morning as jury selection began.
Who is Hunter Biden’s Wife, Melissa Cohen?
Hunter Biden is now married to Melissa Cohen, a 38-year-old South African filmmaker. He met her in May 2019, and less than a week later he proposed. The Biden family did not attend the wedding. Hunter informed The New Yorker of his father’s support for the marriage.
“I called my father and told him we had just got married. He was speaking to her and said, ‘Thank you for giving my kid the confidence to love again.’ “And he said to me, ‘Honey, I knew that when you found love again, I’d get you back. And my response was, “Dad, I have always had love.” And the only thing that let me see it was the fact that you never gave up on me and always believed in me.
Cohen Met Hunter in 2019
Biden proposed to her less than a week after they met in May 2019. The following day, she accepted, and they were married shortly thereafter. In 2019, his son informed The New Yorker that his father had approved the marriage, despite the fact that Joe Biden was not present at the ceremony, which was captured on a cellphone.

Cohen is Backing Hunter Throughout His Trial
Biden’s wife was in Wilmington with him during his trial, and she made news on Tuesday after confronting a former Trump White House adviser. The 12-member jury heard opening comments on Tuesday, as well as testimony from an FBI agent who read aloud some of Biden’s personal texts, including some from a laptop he left at a Delaware repair shop and never returned.

In 2020, the contents were leaked to Republicans and made public, showing some deeply personal messages about his work and life. He later sued over the leaked information. Garrett Ziegler, who has been involved in a campaign to make the contents of Biden’s laptop public, has appeared in court. In September 2023, Biden sued Ziegler and the company he runs, Marco Polo, for allegedly creating a searchable online database of 128,000 emails.
Cohen appeared to be bothered by the former Trump aide’s presence and approached him during a break in proceedings on Tuesday. “You have no right to be here, you Nazi piece of s***,” she was overheard yelling before leaving.
It was stated that Ziegler did not respond to Cohen in the corridor, so Cohen returned to the courtroom to sit beside First Lady Jill Biden. Federal prosecutors also spent hours on Monday showing jurors evidence of his drug use and lying.
