Slipknot appears to have found a new drummer following Jay Weinberg’s widely reported resignation late last year. The Iowa Metal Titans revealed Weinberg’s resignation with an unexpected social media post that read: “Slipknot is bent on developing. “The band has decided to make a creative decision and part ways with Jay.” The post was removed shortly afterward.
The band proceeded to announce dates in 2024, implying that a successor was inevitable. Nearly half a year after Weinberg’s dismissal, Slipknot has posted a mysterious post about the new drummer’s identity. However, it is about as subtle as a sledgehammer.
The photograph of a shattered drumstick is accompanied by the inscription “Rehearsal.” It is evident that admirers have quickly deduced the identity of the individual they suspect to be the new drummer. Their and our educated guess is that it is Eloy Casagrande, a former member of Sepultura, given that the drumstick in issue appears to be the identical ProMark Forward 5B model that he employs.

Additionally, the schedule corresponds: Sepultura recently declared its retirement after four decades, this year, following the announcement of a series of performances. Last month, however, Casagrande announced that he would be departing immediately.
“A few days before the first rehearsal on February 6, drummer Eloy Casagrande informed the group that he was leaving Sepultura to pursue a career in another endeavor,” according to his bandmates. “The band were taken by surprise, without prior warning, he immediately left the band, abandoning everything related to Sepultura.”
Slipknot will perform at a number of festivals this summer, beginning with Las Vegas’ Sick New World on April 27. For additional information, see their official website. So keep an eye out for updates on the new drummer’s name, but just to corroborate what we already know.
Why Did Slipknot Need a New Drummer?
Slipknot’s new drummer joined the band after they separated with Jay Weinberg in November 2023. He had been performing with the band since 2014, following the departure of founding drummer Joey Jordison.
Of course, with each new member comes a new mask. We can see what the new mask looks like thanks to fan-filmed footage on TikTok and X, but we still don’t know who the drummer is.
