When a truck malfunctioned and collided with a car on the set of Eddie Murphy’s The Pickup, a number of crew members sustained injuries.
A multitude of crew members were injured throughout the action sequence rehearsal in Georgia, where the Amazon Studios feature film ‘The Pickup’ was being produced.As a result of the Saturday incident, both the studio and the labor union representing the entertainment industry issued a statement of explanation.
A studio representative confirmed the unfavorable development to Variety, stating, “Unfortunately, the sequence deviated from its intended course, leading to the injuries of multiple crew members.”
The incident allegedly transpired due to a truck malfunction that precipitated an unanticipated collision with a vehicle, leading to a variety of injuries including fractures and lacerations. Two people required hospitalization due to the injuries sustained in the accident.

Notably, Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, and Pete Davidson are in the movie; but, according to the AP, none of them were on the set when the event occurred. The cast and crew’s safety was given first attention by Amazon Studios, which also emphasized that safety measures had been examined and overseen both before to and throughout filming.
The studio representative said in a statement received by Variety, “We are still in the process of gathering facts on what happened and why, but first and foremost our thoughts are with those who are recovering.”

In the meantime, an investigation into the matter was started by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), which represents the crew members.Variety said that the union’s response to the event was, “IATSE is aware of an accident that took place on the Georgia set of The Pickup and have started an inquiry.” Following the disaster, production on The Pickup’s second unit was apparently halted at Shadowbox Studios.
