According to new information, a billionaire who was long thought to have died in a skiing accident may possibly be alive and residing in Moscow with a younger woman. On April 7, 2018, Karl-Erivan Haub, then 58, disappeared while out on an alone ski tour in the Alps.
The businessman was pronounced deceased by a German court in 2021 after a six-day search turned up no results, according to the Seattle Times.
But now, according to the Daily Beast, the Cologne state prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into claims that Christian, Haub’s brother, gave misleading information when he claimed to have no knowledge that his brother might still be alive.
According to the publication, the probe was prompted by a criminal complaint filed by reporters from the broadcaster RTL who were inquiring into Haub’s disappearance.
What Is The Incident?
A German oligarch and former managing director of Tengelmann Group, Karl-Erivan Haub, vanished without a trace in April 2018 while hiking near the Matterhorn in Switzerland. Despite six days of exhaustive search efforts, Haub could not be located and…
Nevertheless, recent developments have emerged from an extensive inquiry conducted by the German broadcaster RTL, which provide new evidence that Haub is alive and presently resides in Moscow with his Russian concubine, Veronika Ermilova.

An investigation has been opened by the public prosecutor’s office of Cologne into Christian Haub, the sibling of Haub and the current leader of the Tengelmann Group. Christian Haub is alleged to have offered fraudulent testimony while under oath.
According to the publication, this investigation was instigated by a criminal complaint lodged against Christian in May 2021, which accused him of providing false information to the Cologne district court.
Speculations of Haub and Veronika Ermilova’s Relations
According to reports, Haub spoke with Ermilova for at least 13 calls in three days, some of which lasted more than an hour, just before his disappearance in 2018. This sparked rumors that Haub was preparing to stage his demise with Ermilova’s assistance and the support of those in Moscow.

In response to rumors, Ermilova clarified her relationship with Haub, stating that they had a business relationship with him and haven’t spoken since the incident that was reported.
I was in a professional relationship with him. This is not true—I don’t live in Moscow with a German billionaire. My child is here, I’m married, and there are no billionaires in my social circle. These people’s company was one of our clients. He vanished in the Alps, as we discovered in 2018, and rumors are circulating in Germany that he was discovered in Moscow. This has not even been partially verified. In Germany, he was formally pronounced deceased, she informed the Daily Mail. Ermilova’s ties to Russia’s FSB security force have also come to light as a result of the RTL probe.
