Know the CONFIRMED Release Date for Monkey Man With Its Cast, Plot, and Trailer!

Dev Patel made his feature-directing debut in 2024 with the American action movie Monkey Man, based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Paul Angunawela and John Collee. Starring in the movie are Patel, Makarand Deshpande, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, Pitobash, Sobhita Dhulipala, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Vipin Sharma.

On March 11, 2024, Monkey Man made its international premiere at South by Southwest. Universal Pictures plans to release the film in the US on April 5, 2024.

Monkey Man Release Date

Universal Pictures has set the release date for Monkey Man for April 5. The film makes its debut in theaters. The release date is concurrent with the horror film The First Omen. March 11 marked the global premiere of Monkey Man at the South by Southwest Film Festival.

Monkey Man Cast

Kid, portrayed by Dev Patel, is an anonymous man on a mission of vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and continue to victimize the impoverished and powerless on a systemic level. Although Slumdog Millionaire, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and his Oscar-nominated performance in Lion are widely regarded as Patel’s most renowned films, he has also appeared in Hotel Mumbai and The Green Knight, which are action films. However, Monkey Man appears to be an action film with an “A” minimum grade, with Patel appearing his most menacing to date.

Sobhita Dhulipala (Made in Heaven), Pitobash (Million Dollar Arm), Vipin Sharma (Hotel Mumbai), Ashwini Kalsekar (Ek Tha Hero), Adithi Kalkunte (Hotel Mumbai), Sikandar Kher (Aarya), and Makarand Deshpande (RRR) comprise the remaining Indian or East Asian actors. Although Sharlto Copley is not of East Asian descent, he also appears in the film as District 9.

Indeed, there is! The action-packed trailer features brutal combat scenes, chases, and more as Dev’s character embarks on a quest for vengeance, while the background plays the iconic party song “Mundian to Bach Ke” by Punjabi MC and Jay-Z.

The Plot of Monkey Man

Along with Paul Angunawela and John Collee, Dev Patel co-wrote the script for Monkey Man and came up with the original idea. The official synopsis is as follows:

“Monkey Man, which is based on the myth of Hanuman, a hero of bravery and strength, stars Patel as Kid, an unnamed young man who makes ends meet by working as a gorilla mask wearer in an underground fight club where he is brutally beaten by more well-known fighters every night in exchange for cash.

“Child finds a means to sneak into the city’s evil elite’s enclave after years of holding his anger inside.” His unexplainably scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retaliation to get revenge on the individuals who stole everything from him as his childhood grief boils over.”
