It’s not possible to choose just ten of the best musicians of all time. If you only pick ten, you have to leave someone out because there are so many great people.
Here is a list of the ten best guitar players of all time, in no particular order:
James Hendrix
Hendrix was a singer and guitarist from the United States. Some people say he was one of the best musicians who ever lived. Every single one of Hendrix’s records did well. He mixed blues, rock, and psychedelic so well, and no one played the guitar with such charm.
Purple Haze, The Star-Spangled Banner, Hey Joe, and Foxy Lady are some of his most famous works.
Jimmy Page
As the guitarist and founder of the rock band Led Zeppelin, James Patrick Page became famous around the world. He is also an English singer, record producer, and musician. Many guitars can be heard when Page plays, and the weight of his right hand is a big part of why Led Zeppelin’s sound is so recognizable.
Some of her most famous songs are “Dazed and Confused,” “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You,” “Whole Lotta Love,” “Kashmir,” and “Heartbreaker.”
Eddie Van Halen
Eddie Van Halen was a great player who always came up with new ideas. Some people say his right hand was the fastest in the game. His tapping style on the guitar and quick arpeggio chords played with two hands on the fret were well-known.
Works that stand out include “Eruption,” “Hot for Teacher,” and “Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love.”
Slash
Saul Hudson is a British-American singer and songwriter who goes by the stage name Slash. He is best known as the lead guitarist for the American hard rock band Guns N’ Roses, with whom he had huge success around the world in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Works that stand out include “Eruption,” “Hot for Teacher,” and “Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love.”
Eric Clapton
Clapton is known as the “King of the Tulsa Sound,” but he can play any blues style. His solos don’t end a song, but instead move it along. This makes him one of the most melodic musicians.

Stevie Ray Vaughan
The late American artist Stevie Ray Vaughan sang, wrote songs and produced records. Numerous people think he was one of the most important electric guitar players in music history and a key figure in the blues revival in the 1980s, even though his popular career only lasted seven years.
Cold Shot, Look at Little Sister and Love Struck Baby are all well-known works.
David Gilmour
English musician David Jon Gilmour sings, writes songs, composes music, plays many instruments, and makes records. He became famous all over the world through the band Pink Floyd. Readers of Guitar World magazine chose David Gilmour’s guitar solos in “Time,” “Comfortably Numb,” “Time,” and “Money” as some of the 100 best guitar solos of all time in 2007.

Angus Young
Australia’s Angus McKinnon Young is a guitarist with Scottish roots. He is best known as the co-founder, lead guitarist, singer, and only permanent member of the hard rock band AC/DC.

B.B. King
Blues musician B.B. King was one of the most important people in history. A lot of new electric guitarists were inspired by the way he played the guitar solos, which were based on fluid string bending, staccato string picking, and shimmering vibrato.
A fight over a woman named Lucille led to a fire at a bar in Arkansas where the band was playing. King did something stupid when he ran back into the fire to get his guitar. All of King’s guitars were named Lucille as a way to remind him not to fight over women or run into more burning buildings.

Keith Richards
The most well-known of Chuck Berry’s many followers also wrote more memorable Rock ‘n’ Roll lines than anyone else. “Start Me Up” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” are just a few of The Rolling Stones’ famous songs. Richards says that chords and beats are what he focuses on most. He doesn’t use flashy guitar licks and tries not to have the fastest fingers.
Gimme Shelter, (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, and Jumpin’ Jack Flash are some of his most famous songs.
