Renfield 2 Release Date: Will We See Nicolas Cage as Dracula Again?

Our review of the vampire film Renfield, starring Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult, suggests that it’s actually a lot of fun. Even though a brand new film has just opened in theaters, our attention is already being drawn to what will come next.

Even if learning how to watch Renfield might be your top priority right now, it’s important to keep your future viewing habits in mind. Keeping that in mind, we present the following schedule for the launch of Renfield 2.

What is Renfield 2 All About?

Renfield is an American horror comedy movie that will be released in 2023. Chris McKay will direct and produce the movie, and Ryan Ridley will write the script based on a story by Robert Kirkman, who will also be a co-producer.

The film is based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula and the 1931 film adaptation of the same name.[a] Count Dracula himself (Nicolas Cage) is joined by actors Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and others.

On March 30, 2023, Renfield premiered at the Overlook Film Festival, and on April 14, 2023, Universal Pictures released it in theaters across the United States. The reviews for the film were all over the place.

Renfield 2 Possible Release Date

There is currently no Renfield 2 release date and the sequel has not been approved as of April 2023. However, Chris McKay has discussed plans for a sequel to the horror film.

McKay has stated that he believes there are further stories to be told in the universe of Renfield, Rebecca, and Dracula. But don’t think this will lead to the return of the Universal Monsters franchise.

Plans for a Renfield sequel are contingent on how well the first comedy film does at the box office and with critics, but we expect there will be plenty of interest in seeing more of Nicolas Cage’s vampire shenanigans. Even if Renfield 2 is approved, we probably won’t see it in theaters until 2025.

Renfield 2 Expected Storyline

At this point, there are no set plans for the plot of Renfield 2, although there are two directions the film could go in. You can either go through the time and witness Renfield’s first encounter with Dracula, or you can watch him put his knowledge to use by vanquishing other monsters.

Dracula is effectively dead and buried by the end of the first film. However, if horror films have taught us anything, it’s that vampires never stay dead for good. Renfield 2 could easily resurrect Nicolas Cage’s film villain for additional mayhem. The universe of Renfield might expand in a hypothetical sequel, with new monsters for Renfield and Rebecca to defeat in true Ghostbusters fashion.

On the other hand, we were blown away by a black-and-white flashback to Renfield’s initial meeting with Dracula in the first film and would love to see more of that. Envision a film in which Nicolas Cage plays the role of Nosferatu and lures Nicholas Hoult into his trap.

Renfield 2: Possible New Cast Members

Nothing has been confirmed, but we can’t imagine that Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult won’t appear in Renfield 2. It’s highly likely that Dracula and Renfield would return for another installment.

Also, Awkwafina’s Rebecca Quincy from the first film would most likely return considering the chemistry between her and the lead male character. Based on the movie’s climax, it’s safe to assume that Rebecca wants to put her monster-killing skills to good use again.
