Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Release Date: Rudd Officially Joins the Cast as Ben Glenroy!
Only Murders in the Building stands out as a funny whodunit in a TV world full of true crime documentaries and scripted shows. The Emmy-winning show has a loyal fan base thanks to its A-list cast—led by Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin—surprising guest stars, and a twisty plot that looks closely at the true crime fandom. Last August, the end of season 2 of Only Murders left us on a huge cliffhanger. Now that we’re in the new year, it’s time to start looking for clues and hints about the third season’s mystery.
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Release Date and Renewal Status
Yes! On July 11, 2022, Hulu Originals President Craig Erwich said that the show would be back for a third season because fans had a great response to the second season’s premiere. This made the show the “true crown jewel of our slate.” Fans also got a hint from the early renewal that the show would end with another shocking cliffhanger, and the show did not disappoint.
Hulu has not yet announced when the new season will be available. But the parent company of the streaming service, Disney, has confirmed that season 3 will come out this year. Hopefully, OMITB will follow the same schedule as previous seasons and come back by the end of summer.
Spoiler: What Will Happen in Only Murders in the Building Season 3?
The season 2 finale sets up the mystery for the next season. (This is a major spoiler!) The episode jumps ahead one year to the first night of a Broadway show that Oliver is directing. Ben Glenroy (Rudd) and Charles are the main characters of the show, but it doesn’t look like they get along.
Backstage, when things are getting tense, Charles tells Ben, “Stay away from her” (we don’t know who) and “I know what you did.” When the curtains come back up a few seconds later, Ben is onstage and seems to be dead.
Dan Fogelman, the show’s executive producer, told Entertainment Tonight, “This season is going to be big, and I think people are going to love Paul.”
Hoffman also gave hints that Oliver would get more attention in the third season. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “If season one was more about Mabel and Tim Kono’s emotional storyline and season two was more about Charles and his relationship with his father and himself, I’m very excited to both focus on the theatrical side of New York City and also on Oliver and his world.”
Cast: Who Will Star in Only Murders in the Building Season 3?

John Hoffman, co-creator and executive producer of the show told PEOPLE that the actor’s role “was a real dream come true for us.” He also said that the story of “Ben Glenroy” will take many turns in season 3.
Also, Variety reported that Grey’s Anatomy alum Jesse Williams will have a recurring role as a “documentarian with a special interest in the case that Mabel, Charles, and Oliver are working on.”
