A second season of Star Trek: Prodigy, also consisting of 20 episodes, was confirmed in November 2021, not long after the release of Prodigy season 1 on Paramount+. For now, it’s unclear whether the second season of Prodigy will be released in two 10-episode chunks, like the first, or if the whole thing will drop all at once over the course of 20 weeks.
When Will the Second Season of Star Trek: Prodigy Be Released?
The second season of Star Trek: Prodigy is planned for release later in 2023.
The episodes for season 2 are still under production, but the show’s elaborate animation and production design, which won an Emmy, require time to complete. The first season of Star Trek: Prodigy was released in installments to give the studio more time to animate the episodes. Season 2 of “Prodigy” may be far enough along that Paramount+ can drop all 20 episodes at once.
And 2023 will be a massive year for Star Trek on Paramount+. First up in 2023 is the season three finale of Star Trek: Picard in February, followed by episodes two and four of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks, respectively. Star Trek: Prodigy may premiere before or after the upcoming fifth season of Star Trek: Discovery.
