According to Media, the 1996 golf comedy ‘Happy Gilmore’ is receiving a sequel, with Adam Sandler reprising his role. Netflix stated that Adam Sandler, 57, would reprise his role as the title character in the classic 1996 golf comedy.
“Happy Gilmore is back!” Adam Sandler will reprise his legendary role in a brand new film coming to Netflix,” the streaming service announced on X (previously Twitter). Sandler subsequently remarked in a video on X, “It’s been 25 years since I’ve done this,” as he headed to the golf course.

“Let’s see what happens; I’m afraid! Shooter McGavin, this is for you. “That went pretty well, you’re dead Shooter!” he added, referring to Christopher McDonald’s character in the film. McDonald is most recognized for his role as the wicked professional golfer Shooter McGavin in the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore.
McDonald, 69, announced in March that Sandler was working on a sequel to his smash film. McDonald told Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan, “I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this.'”
“I asked, ‘What?’ “He says, ‘How about that?’ and shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2,” the actor explained. He went on, “Maybe you should cut that out because I don’t want to be a liar, but he did show me that, and I thought, ‘Wow, that would be awesome.'”
When responding to McDonald’s statements on The Drew Barrymore Show in April, Sandler’s 49-year-old friend Drew Barrymore revealed that she emailed the actor regarding the prospective sequel.

“Are you kidding me?” “I want it, I need it, and I spent last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison,” the actress continued, referring to another of Sandler’s great ’90s comedy. “I sent Sandler a video of that, and then he sent me another video back and I’m waiting to see if he’s confirming about the Happy Gilmore 2 script.”
Barrymore later added, “So this just in, breaking news: I’ll simply say this, from my source, is that it is in the works.” This was likely after Barrymore received a response from Sandler himself.
