Recently, Julianne Hough revealed shocking information that will shock both her followers and the reality television industry. The former Footloose star and Dancing with the Stars diva has opened up openly about a difficult period in her early life that she has never before discussed.
Hough disclosed that she was first sexually abused in Utah when she was just “about 4 years old” in an engrossing interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show. The offender? a “neighbor” who contributed to her upbringing experiencing a “very confusing time.”
Julianne Alleges She Was Abused by a Neighbor
The 36-year-old actress, who has wowed crowds with her personality and dance skills, acknowledged that talking about these terrifying situations in public is a new experience for her. She stated, “I’m not the only one in my family that had gone through similar things, and there was not a lot of repercussion for what had happened.”
That was therefore a very difficult concept to accept. No one took action, Julianne said.
The reality star ignored these upsetting recollections for a long time. She hadn’t really faced them until she started sorting through her life in recent years.
She acknowledged, “I started sharing those things, but until I started really doing this work in the last few years, I had forgotten about the neighbor thing at 4 years old.” “Basically, I had completely disassociated from [the abuse] ever happening, so I had blocked out from birth to age ten.”
Julianne Shares Her Experiences With The Trauma
In retrospect, Julianne observed that her horrific experiences created a worrisome precedent for power abuses at such a young age:
“Being so young, and those being your first experiences – whether it be physical, mental, or sexual – those abuses of power to someone who is vulnerable to it – it immediately sets a precedent of: other people have the power.”
Julianne faced difficulties along the way to being well-known. From her early years spent competing in dance to her breakout performance in the movie Footloose, Julianne’s path has been a combination of happiness and hardship.
She became well-known and rapidly gained notoriety thanks to her talent and charisma. But beyond the gleaming exterior, her past still left scars.
Julianne delves deeper into these subjects in her latest book, Everything We Never Knew. She also discussed the effect her admissions had on her family in her conversation with Jamie Kern Lima.
“I believe that at the time, when I was younger, they were similarly unsure about what to do. and were also in a situation where they didn’t feel competent or powerless,” she remarked.
“We’ve undoubtedly had talk after conversation in which someone says, ‘But we get it now, right? And both of us are in agreement? Though I don’t blame you now, I did require more at the time.
Julianne found comfort in her 2020 divorce from Brooks Laich despite her turbulent past.
“I really reconnected with my parents during my divorce, and they showed up for me as my parents,” the woman remarked. And I required that. I was able to recover my relationship with them as their child, and they were able to take care of me. And that was the thing that healed the most.
In addition to repeating the suffering, Julianne’s fortitude in telling her experience also aims to reclaim her story. Julianne is demonstrating that she is more than simply a star—she is a survivor—having gone from dancing her way into popularity to now confronting her history with unwavering honesty.
