Pumpkin, whose true name is Lauryn Efird, has filed for divorce from her spouse Josh, the daughter of Mama June Shannon.
After Alana Thompson, June’s daughter, gained popularity on TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras, she became known as “Honey Boo Boo” and went on to become a member of a vast reality TV dynasty that includes Pumpkin and Mama June.
When Alana was a little child on that show, she was so captivating that the Shannon family and she herself served as the inspiration for the wildly successful spin-off, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
For a variety of reasons, including the matriarch Mama June’s fondness for monikers like “Pumpkin” and “Sugar Bear” (Alana’s father), the Shannon family enthralled viewers of unscripted television.
“Mama June” from Alana and Pumpkin also had a spin-off program, Mama June: From Not Too Hot, which then became Mama June: Family Crisis and Mama June: Road To Redemption.
While Pumpkin doesn’t now host her own show, she and the other members of Mama June’s family are well-known on the reality television scene, and her divorce made headlines.
After Six Years of Marriage, Pumpkin Filed for Divorce
Twenty-four-year-old Pumpkin filed for divorce from her spouse Josh Efird after six years of marriage.
The couple’s 2018 wedding was featured in the Shannon family’s reality TV narratives.
Pumpkin, 28, and Josh, 28, are the parents of four children: Bentley, Sylus and Stella, twins, and Ella.
After obtaining court records from Wilkinson County, Georgia, where Pumpkin filed for divorce, TMZ published information that seemed to indicate the young couple’s amicable breakup:
“According to the documents, the parties have mutually agreed to share custody because they feel it is best for their kids given that their marriage is “irretrievably dissolved.”
“In order for the two to spend time with their children, a parenting plan is included in the settlement agreement. They will split the costs of the kids’ extracurricular and academic activities as well as their medical bills.”
Us Weekly read the document as well and stated:
“Pumpkin and Josh have come to a conclusive and final resolution on matters related to their divorce, including custody, visitation, child support, property division, alimony, and debt distribution.”
People reports that the divorce agreement specifies that Josh has 60 days to vacate the family home in Georgia, which Lauryn will be taking over according to the documents.
The publication added that Anna “Chickadee” Toney, Mama June’s eldest daughter, passed away, and the Shannon family was still in mourning:
The relationship between Laura and Josh has been discussed on the current season of Mama June: Family Crisis on WEtv. The most recent episode, however, has concentrated on the family’s struggles following Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s death in December.”
On December 9, Chickadee passed away from adrenal carcinoma.
The Shannon family and Pumpkin have not publicly commented on the divorce filing; instead, media outlets have primarily obtained or been furnished with court documents.
