Hollywood is trying to make movies based on their biggest toy IPs because of her work with Mattel on the comedy movie, which was a huge hit at the box office. And since the Monopoly movie has been stuck in production hell since 2015, it seemed like they had to bring the board game movie back. Like Thanos in a way.

We still believe that the main idea from their 2015 story—that the main character will “use both Chance and Community in a quest to make [they’re] fortune” before starting “a fun, adventure-filled journey”—is the most likely way to go.
