Nancy Wheeler Relationship: Love Triangle involving Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan from “Stranger Things”!

The first love! Although the main focus of Stranger Things is on young people battling otherworldly forces and gaining insights into the workings of the government, the show is surprisingly knowledgeable on issues pertaining to the heart.

During an interview with Glamour in 2017, the actress Natalia Dyer, who plays the role of Nancy Wheeler on the hit Netflix series, had this to say about the show: “For me, this show is far more about the individuals and the connections.”

“In my opinion, it focuses a lot on the characters. The Duffer brothers take the cliches of the 1980s and actually flesh them out, giving the characters a lot of depth in the process. I think it’s so cool how everyone interacts with one another, and it’s fascinating to observe the variety of ways in which people do so.

The love triangle that exists between Nancy, Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), and Jonathan Byers has been one of the most significant focal points of the series since it made its debut on the streaming platform in July of 2016. (Charlie Heaton). In season 1, Nancy fell for the quiet guy Jonathan despite the fact that she was dating the popular jock, Steve.

However, in season 2, it was revealed that the aspiring journalist was still suppressing her feelings for the oldest Byers son by delving deeper into her relationship with the most popular athlete at Hawkins.

“At the end of season 1, we were kind of pretending that nothing happened,” Keery said to Glamour in 2017 about the surprising twist. “We were holding each other back in a certain way — but in order to move forward, we had to go to these separate places.”

After a Halloween night of spilled punch and “bulls–t” between her and Steve, Nancy eventually found her way to Jonathan in season 2, but Dyer and Keery aren’t confident that their characters won’t one day reignite their fading spark – after maturing on their own first, of course.

“They definitely care about each other and still love each other, [but] they have to figure themselves out apart from each other,” Dyer revealed to Glamour. “After the end of season 1, their relationship was a bit of a safety blanket. For that to be healthy, you have to figure out what it is outside of that safety blanket.”

At the premiere of Stranger Things season 2 in October 2017, the actor is known for Molly’s Game elaborated on his thoughts in an interview with Us Weekly, saying, “I believe everybody sort of still has feelings for that one person in some way or another.” You hold them in high regard. You give consideration to them.

Either you think of it with warm feelings or you think of it with unfavorable thoughts. I believe Steve and Nancy are both the same in this regard. I believe that people will find humanity in the situation, or at the very least, I hope that they will.

In an interview with Refinery29 published in 2019, Heaton stated that he is “really fairly pro-Steve.” Despite the fact that he plays his opponent on the program, the New Mutants actor stated that the former ladies’ man has “become into a genuinely decent guy.” However, Heaton underlined that the connection that Nancy and Jonathan enjoy will continue to be something special for the series.

“They can and do rely on each other,” he said about the onscreen couple at the time. “They’re very different people. But when it matters they are there for each other.”

The chemistry between the beautiful introvert and the brilliant brunette wasn’t just for show. It wasn’t until July 2016 that Dyer and Heaton started dating behind the scenes after the premiere of season 1. Even though Dyer and her beau are infamous for keeping their romance under wraps, she did speak about him at the 2018 SAG Awards.

“Nah, he’s fantastic. “He’s talented, like everyone else in the ensemble,” she said at the time to Us. “It’s a pleasure to work with them all.”

Despite their six-year relationship and costar status, the Tennessean is baffled as to why anyone cares about their romance at all.

The cosmopolitan UK interviewed her in May 2022 and she commented, “The craziest thing about [our relationship] is other people’s perspective and reaction to it.” The human touch is all that’s left.
